I had about 20 bags of change to put into my account recently

I was at the window no longer than anyone else.

    (I bank wiht HSBC.)

Having worked in a bank branch, I find that very hard to believe.
  • There were several people with cheques to cash and various complex questions. If the bags are added up correctly and a paying in slip completed, there's no reason it should take very long.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

I would agree with you but unfortunately my experience is someone comes in with a Tesco bag full of change and when asked how much, mutters that they haven't a clue or the wife/husband counted it etc etc.

  • I took about £175 (bagged up but in food bags, not bank bags) to A&L and they happily paid it in to my account.

I did ask for bank bags so I could swap it over to the right bags before paying in and the girl said that was OK as it was.

I saved it in one of those "pound saver" tins which you only open with a tin opener else I would have been diving down it before payday LOL

ah! how annoying is that , them coin star's they are a bad rip off . just take tour money to local pubs or shops ,they normally have to pay the banks for the change you paid the bank to change ahhh , . hope that helps
  • Just a thought but can you arrange with your bank to set up a system to deposit money out of the bank's normal hours in the safe/steel letterbox outside the bank. Unsure whether this is just for businesses or any bank customer can use this. If you can, you could throw all your bags of change in there at once and get it credited to your account.

  • Night safe are not designed for coin deposits as there is a possibility that they could split when paid in. Night safe bags are plastic these days I have not seen an old style 'leather bag' for years and years. You can deposit money into a nightsafe but you will be charged as if you had a business account ie so much per time you put a bag + % charge of total paid in.
