Who do you Bank with ? Is it a Building Society rather than a Bank. Often Building Societies don't offer the same counter service as a larger Bank. NatWest would accept any amount as long as it is bagged correctly and you are a customer.0

a tip with taking coins in to a bank is try and go mornings monday or tuesday.
Othertimes they may be busy, HSBC and Natwest have always cashed 5-6 bags of coins for me at these times
But there is a sign in HSBC saying only 2 bags to be changed at busy times

I had this problem when my local Halifax only allowed 5 bags to be changed (I had about thirty). Did the five, popped next door to Lloyds and they did the lot - no probs.0

I thought most banks had counting machines that weighed coins if they were all the same??0

They do but most also seem to have a limit in place which restricts the number you can change per day
I also save change and have found the building societies will only change 2 per day, unless it's a childrens account you're paying into but the RBS don't seem to mind how many I change in one go and the staff are always fine about it and joke that at the end of the day its all legal tender.
What about asking in a local shop? My kids often get given bags of change from their great grandad, which the local shop owner is happy to change for them.Laughter is the sun

See I understand the limit if the cashier has to count every bag............but is taking 10 bags to the weighing machine so much harder than 2?? I don't see it delaying the queue that much.0
