Check out S.B Fairtrade ground coffee: £1.35/227g

Probably a lot of replication, but it is a long thread! I managed 15 pages.
Anyway, I like:
Muffins, 59p for 6, perfect for toasting but not available in all stores.
Angel delight and jelly - my kids adore these two together as a pud, all for pence!
Shower gel, toothbrush and toothpaste, perfectly adequate
Loo roll and tissues
Plain crisps - such good value and very nice, 47p for 12 (small) bags
Sweet and sour sauce
Dried pasta, spag and lasagne sheets
Tuna, sweetcorn and soft cheese - this trio are a popular sandwich filling for me. I use the 47p wholemeal pittas rather than SB as I can't stomach too much white bread.
Sponge scourers
Orange juice
Cooking bacon - very good value, but hit and miss whether you get wispy half-slices or huge chunks! Took a pack camping and it was like 2 big bacon chops!
Eggs
Natural yoghurt
Choc mousse, 25p 4 pack (kids love them)
Milk chocolate, nice to keep in the fridge for those moments, for 27p you cant go wrong!
Butter - it's butter and it's British
Foil, cling film and food bags
9p instant noodles - fine for camping and quick belly-filling
Rice
Vinegar
Tinned mushy peas
I cannot abide the tinned tomatoes - they are tasteless and ruin homemade bolognese/chilli.
I can't bring myself to try the teabags despite all the praise in this thread, as I am VERY fussy and have it ultra strong ('gut-rot tea')
Tried various breakfast cereals - all have ended up on the bird table after one bowl!
Cola is vile, but what did i expect from cheap pop?
I like to try different SB products all the time, I'm sure the bubble will burst eventually and the supermarkets will go back to extorting us.
Tomorrow I'm trying the frozen sausage rolls for £1 - anyone tried them? Good/bad?0 -
Yes i've tried the frozen sausage rolls (well the kids have for DSs' birthday last week). They were one of the first things to go and my DS said they were the best sausage rolls he's ever tasted! So they must be good as i've had M&S, Greggs, Baynes sausage rolls amongst others but these seemed to be the most popular.0

We have tried the sausage rolls too, they are fine, I sometimes use them as an after school snack for the kids, they seem to need to be baked longer than it says on the pack though.
On the tea subject, I would give them a try, I was a Twinnings girl, always have been very fussy with my tea, and I can't quite believe SB tea bags, they are wonderful for the price, ok, they are not Twinnings but in all honesty, I much prefer them over Tetley, PG, Typhoo and all the othe own brand teas:Dgrocery challenge Sept 2012 £21/£3990 -
Yes, the tea bags are IMO an absolute billy bargain. And Fairtrade, too.Call me Carmine....

Teabags good too but I do like my tea weak and milky lol saying that tho others who like their tea strong haven't noticed any difference! When I told OH about them he said he thought that there was something different about them the last week or so:rolleyes: didn't tell him he's been drinking them since June :rotfl:
Everything else I've tried has been great!
Nice one!:D This is essentially what I've always said - it's human nature to 'review' something with your eyes as opposed to your taste buds. That's why brand names are inavariably very distinctively packaged. Take away that 'sense' (like introducing the basics stuff by steath, lol) and very often even the brand snobs don't notice a difference. Until told about the 'experiment', lol.Call me Carmine....

I bought this a few weeks ago and found it to be the vilest thing I've ever had and I'm a long-term 'value' fan.
Tasted as rough as a grizzly bear's behind and was bereft of a coffee flavour.
At the same time I bought it they had a 2 for £3 deal on all of the other Sainsburys 227g bags of ground coffee (except TTD) which is a MUCH, MUCH better deal IMO.

:rotfl:Well I was outraged tonight in Sainsburys to see their Basics Curry Sauce has gone up to 9p a jar!! What a price hike!!:rotfl:0

I found some basic frozen summer berries this weekend. We use them for smoothies and at a £1 bag do the trick!2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback

Well the sausage rolls went down a treat with my two as well! Enjoyed as part of a 'car picnic' after our visit to a children's farm, with the few left over going into my youngest's pack lunch for her school trip yesterday.
Big thumbs up for basics sausage rolls!
I will bite the bullet and buy a box of these fabled tea bags today - I have quite a few left so won't try them for a while though.0
