The Sweet Pickle is quite nice, 25p for a 285g jar.

Makes a great cheese and pickle sandwich.

    ;)
I have been using that for years. Also the basic pickled onions. I have just made some tomato chutney with reduced tomatoes so I will have to see how they compare.

Got some Basics Burgers, Potato Salad and Coleslaw for a get-together yesterday, and every one commented on how good things were, I saw no point in buying pots of branded products, that just may end up getting left, or wasted, so took the bull by the horns and gave them a go, I was quite surprized how much carrot etc there was in that pot of slaw, also potato salad was quite nicely put together, so not disappointed at all, I think I also got some same date lettuces and bread rolls, so in all an inexpensive tea, with priceless company. :j

The coleslaw greatly surprised us. We were expecting it to be runny and lacking in salad pieces. Wrong. Another billy bargain at 46p. My kids also swear by the chicken burgers (£1.00 for 8?), although I'm not convinced they have a lot of chicken in them, lol.

Quick question - does the curry sauce work with anything other than chicken? Say prawns or vegetables or chick peas?
It's a jar of curry sauce! What are you imagining will happen if you don't use chicken?

Well finally got round to the jar of curry sauce I bought a couple of weeks ago and have to say it is very nice, I've added a sprinkle of coconut and a few more sultanas , god help oldest son if he turns his nose up at it (food label snob). Off to add a couple of jars to my order. :T

Anyone tried the basics 2-pack of naan breads? Is this a new product? 59p seems like a very reasonable price.

    Basics tinned tomatoes good

basic tomato sauce good - but not as good as Lidls .

basics soups - thin and gruel like i am afraid.

basics feta cheese - very good. greek friends like it too! its almost indistinguishable from their organic stuff in taste terms, in fact the mildness is in some ways better.

i just tend to try stuff and if i dont like it, move to other things. trial and error really!

basics cheese sauce is spot on too - chuck it on any old pasta and bits of whatever, bacon mushrooms, that sort of thing, no complaints from him indoors who never confessed to liking pasta before :j
