Just tried the creme caramels - I don't usually like these but as the basics ones are less sweet I like them! 45p x4 great value

The basics yoghurts are lovely too, taste very fruity and creamy. To think I used to spend £1.50 per yoghurt before in a pot with a picture of flowers or fruit on and these are 29p for 4!

I bought the basics fromage frais to try too 45px 6 sm pots. Haven't had one yet so far all the yoghurts and desserts have been absolutely fine to me and I am sure these will be too!

Never in a million years did I think I would enjoy so much from the basics range, the food snob and label snob that i was. I now see and taste how much more salt and sugar is added to the premium ranges compared to basics and taste wise I can't taste difference in quality in many items, yet the difference in price is sometimes staggering!

That's the thing that has delighted us - we used to subscribe to the oft-peddled belief that value/basics stuff is bad for your health compared to the branded. Amazingly, in many instances the truth is actually the very opposite of that!

A new one for us - basics instant custard powder. I bought this ages ago when I first made a Sainsbug order and it's been at the back of the cupboard ever since. My missus got given some locally-grown rhubarb today so decided to make rhubarb and custard. She's a Bird's custard powder woman and always has been ,lol, but horror of horrors none left in the cupboard. So she pulls out the basics instant custard sachet with a look of disdain. Ten mins later she's asking me to get a few in stock on the next order! :D OK, she added a bit of milk into the mix but it was bloody lovely.

    PS It's 7p!
