basics dishwasher tablets - bad - leave a dull finish and white residue, went up to the standard 3 in 1 sainsburys and now everythings shiny and clean

I tried these last week and found them to be ok, i've tried finsh and own brand ones in the past and imo i cant see much difference. The only thing that needed washing again was my casserole dish which also needed re washing after using finish tabs too. I live in soft water area so not sure if that makes any difference but i'll defo be using them again.
Also basics pasta sauce was nice 27p i think, added basics peppers, chopped toms, onions and mince for spag bol yum.

We had the basics sweet and sour sauce (28p!) last night for the first time with chicken and home made egg fried rice and it was great. We added a tin of the basics pineapples (18p) and basics peppers and it worked really well. It's very low in fat as well.

I bought the 5p curry sauce today, so going to try that in the week, I've hidden it at the back of the cupboard so my food snob son can't see it , what he doesn't know won't harm him :rotfl:

If that goes down OK then I'll try the sweet n sour, can't believe the amount I was paying for the premium brands

Also first time I've actually gone out of my way to look at the reduced food, not a lot, got some organic beef, a beef cannelloni and some reduced fruit bread, all gone in the freezer for later on.

Ditto us. Plus we also can't believe how much fat/sugar/salt we were shoving down our gullets. Not saying it's in every instance but a lot of the basics products contain much less of these ingredients than the brand names - apart from the packaging, one of the reasons some people tend to say the brand names taste nicer, we are so used to all the added salt and sugar our palettes equate it to 'better'. Not in any way saying ALL people do this, btw.

PS We put a tin of basics pineapple chunks (18p!!) in the curry sauce and it went down a storm with our kids.

Glad i'm not the only one on here with brand snobs for offspring!

To be fair youngest is doing Food GCSE - and is quite happy with the quality of some of the basics range......especially the bourbons.....

I'm sure the basics toilet rolls have gone up. A pack of 12 is now £1.26!

Yes, a 9p rise. But last time I looked the mushrooms were down quite a lot (OK, they were also increased by quite a margin recently, lol).
