I have, they're lovely, they taste like...well...a pickled onion :D . Not too strong in flavour and you can use the vinegar afterwards for onion gravy on your chips!!

Have now tried them with some basics red leicester cheese - very good indeed - yum yum:D

Basics ready salted potato rings- scrummy! Nicer than proper hula hoops.

Another vote for the potato rings here. I'd choose them over salted hula hoops any day. Wish they did salt and vinegar tho.

I tried the basics wheat biscuits the other day. I was a bit hesitant as some people have said they were awful, but I thought they were fine - mind you it's been a while since I had Wheetabix so not a direct comparison.
    Looking forward to the future.

Basics corned beef hash at 80p is best around! Even better than much more expensive brands, more corned beef and sides do not go all hard once cooked.

I have always used Sainsburys to shop and over the last year or so have been buying their Basics brand in just about every product I need!

Their chocolate mousses my kids love, I always buy the basics brand of biscuits and we love the digestives and chocolate chip cookies especially :D.

There are so many Basics products I buy that I can't remember what really stands out - I have found it to be all good with one exception - their Basics Lasagne is a bit runny but still very tasty and perfectly edible:T

    Latest things I've tried:
Instant mashed potato - a bit bland, but good texture, just needs a bit of seasoning.
Strawberry angel delight - gorgeous, and a bargain at 6p!

Me and the wife tried out the 18p Rice Pudding last night. We had it with Basics pineapple pieces (also 18p) and thought the combination was fantastic. I know it says on the tin that there's less rice but we didn't really notice a major difference between it and Ambrosia. Especially when you consider that the Sainsbug rice pudding and pineapple combined comes to less than half the price of a can of Ambrosia on its own. Madness. Oh, and less fat and salt also.

I treated myself to a bag of basics cashew nuts the other week. Smallish bag but filled up..lots of bits and peices but tasted just as nice. 99p special the other week.

99p used to be the regular price until a couple of months back when they realised it was time to whack it up and rip the punters off

Ambrosia's not as good as it used to be anyway. On Heston Blumenthal a few weeks ago he went to their factory and they said they used to make it with cream but now don't.

I had the basic dark chocolate recently, and although it was lovely and didn't taste of cack, it doesn't like being melted in the microwave - I had sparks coming out of it:eek:. There was no foil on the chocolate so who knows what's in it . I did make some very tasty rice krisipe cakes with the economy rice pops that no-one would eat for breakfast ;).
