Basic jelly has vanished at my store, anyone else seen any? was good value at 9p
I like sainsbury's tea bags but NOT the basic ones, tried it on the family without saying anything and all 4 of them complained after the first sip. Gave to neighbour who dies things with tea:)0 -
we've just discovered Sainsbury's basics corned beef - it's nicer than most of the branded stuff!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0

My local Sainsbury's, Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield, do not stock lots of basics ranges. I have emailed Customer services to complain, but no action has been taken. The shop is in quite an affluent area so I suspect they want to make people pay more money. We can't all afford high prices. My next nearest shop stocks everything. Has anyone else found this? Thanks.0

I second that!0 -
I think that I must be the only person who doesn't like the tea bags.
No, I can't stand them either. I find them weak and bitter, so I use the red label ones.
Wish they hadn't stopped the 9p jelly, found that a cheap desert with fresh fruit added.
Don't like the basic peanut butter either.
Do like:
digestives....................... 33p
yoghurt, 2% fat ...............49p for 500g
pineapple pieces.................17p
double strength squash....1.5 ltrs 59p0 -
Reading this thread while eating my basics custard creams and basics ready salted crisps!
Just started buying the basics range...results so far...
Choc chip cookies.........kids love them
Custard creams...........we all love them
Bourbon biscuits and digestives in cupboard.....not opened yet
12 pack crisps.........all great, ideal for lunch boxes. 18g /pack so quite small but just over 100 cals so good if dieting...
Kitchen rolls...........fine for mopping up, will try cleaning windows with these at the weekend.
Bananas, apples, pears ..........no difference to more expensive ones
Red seedless grapes.....tasted nice, were quite ripe so they all got eaten very quickly!
Onions, carrots and potatoes............again no difference...
Parmesan cheese lookalike...will open soon, just finishing off Aldi's version
mushrooms....a bit more dirt around them but I wash them all anyway....
Yogurts....hubby has no complaints....4 for 29p! bargain!
Not basics but 6 pack apple juices (150ml I think) for 99p, usually go to Aldi for these and they are good according to DS!
Will be trying a lot more basics over the next few weeks....:pMust learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D
Every day is a new challenge not a new problem!:p
SW start 08/01/14 4/21lbs (1st target) :j0 -
I always bought my big packs of cooking bacon from Farmfoods (chilled section) but they seem to have stopped selling it at my local store. So I bought some of the Basics frozen cooking bacon (it's packed in four individual packs) and am disappointed with it. I opened the first pack yesterday and let it defrost (to make some lentil and bacon soup) and it was just a mass of tiny, wafer-thin chopped up pieces. I spent ages fiddling away with it, getting any bits of fat out. Still three more packs to go but if they are as bad I won't be getting it again!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

The basics cooking bacon from the chilled section is usually very good, lots of meaty bits and whole rashers.I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Yes blackandwhitebunny I agree, I have had the basics chilled cooking bacon before, on the odd occasion, and found that ok for purpose. I shall stick to that in future and avoid the frozen packs even though they do work out cheaper!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

You'll find this, tis how they operate. Perhaps just go to the other store and stock up on what you want if you have cupboard/freezer space.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
