  • Tried basics orangeade this weekend. Found it very watery and not very orange testing. But seeing as I got it as I was sick of coke and need to try and get some fluid down me (had cold and needed something interesting to drink). It might not have been that bad lol!

Just tried the Tea Bags over the weekend because of this thread, (I'm quiet fussy about a cuppa) and was very surprised how good they are for 38p - stocked up with a few boxes tonight. :)

Oh my goodness. I don't normally post in my lunch hour but I am shocked. had a quick whizz around my local Sainsburys to get bits for tea tonight (disorganised as usual) and thought I'd treat myself to a snack. The last time I bought the basics tortillas, which I don't think was that long ago, they were about 30p, now they are................. 50p. What is that all about????

I think Sainsburys doubled the size of the bag, as did Asda and Morrisons (although I think one of those two changed it back down again)

Another vote for the baby salad leaves, plus the shaving foam and cotton wool pads, although not all at the same time though ;)

  • Basics disposable razors. I have a really heavy beard - something akin to having a brillo pad growing out my face. I've tried most brands over the years with varying success, they're either too expensive (I cannot justify the cost of Gillette blades for example) or rip pieces of my face off (the latest being Lidl's effort at producing a 'premium' razor). However, the Basics disposables have given a clean and comfortable shave and although I do have to shave more frequently, there's no blood loss! Admittedly the handle is a little flimsy but for the cost they are definitely worth a try - just remember to make sure you prepare yourself properly before you shave!
  • Bought a bar of the white chocolate today and oh my goodness, it's delicious! Out of all three basics chocolate varieties, this is definitely the best! Also got a tin of pineapple chunks in juice (13p) and a large basics pizza (1 pound)- that and some marked down ham are gonna be tonight's dinner. We'll see how that goes.

  • Right I've tried a few more bits now-

Teacakes - yum, both toasted and not toasted with butter. Nice amount of fruit too

Pain au chocolate - not overly chocolate-y, but they were ok. Don't know if I'd buy again

Ham and Pineapple pizza (rectangular one-chilled) - wasn't expecting much really, I added some mushrooms, pepper and a bit more cheese and it was really delicious! Better than most of the branded pizzas I've had.

Chicken and vegetable pies (3 pack-chilled) - There wasn't much in the way of chicken or vegetables especially compared to the expensive versions but even still they were tasty and what there was of chicken tasted nice-what do you expect for 92p? I'll buy them again.

Oat and raisin bars - not impressed really, they were too chewy for me. Not as in 'gooey' chewy but 'I think I'm gonna lose a tooth' chewy. Also didn't taste of much and not many raisins. Boyf seemed to like them though. (TBF, most of the stuff he eats never touches the sides :D)

Peanut Butter - lovely! Would never notice the difference apart from the price ;)

Summer fruits squash - nice and tastes like Mr T/ Mr A own brand stuff.

Fromage frais (in the 6 pack) - liked all the flavours

Macaroni Cheese (chilled) - bought for boyf - he enjoyed it!

Have yet to try the naan breads, mozzarella and cleaning sponges/cloths ... Didn't care that half my trolley had orange and white this time - I spent less than I normally would at Mr T, and managed to squeeze in the sweet goodies!

Thanks for the idea, might give that a go!

Having the 'Rose' tonight. £2.68 a bottle. Should go well with the curry.

    Just tried something else...

Basics chicken and veg pies from the chilled section. I believe they were 93p and I got three pies. I mean ok they're nothing special, only 24% chicken although it is British. But for the price they are a pretty good deal IMO. I just had one with some potatoes for lunch(yeah...I felt like it).
