but then not every store is going to stock the whole basics range
I suppose this is true, never really thought about that :o . My local store has even started to discontinue some basics that I always bought. I now have to buy the next brand up which is normally a lot more
    Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,869.54 May 2037
    Swagbucks ~ £130 (2024 ~ £395)
    Surveys ~ £139.39 (2024 ~ £280.14)
    Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)
  • I cannot rave about the Basics washing powder enough! Itcleans superbly (which let's face it, is all it's really there for)- so far there has been nothing it hasn't been able to get out (including red wine, tea, felt pen and blood). I have fairly sensitive skin and find some of the more 'hardcore' washing products (like the persil gel-topped tablets and any Daz products) make me itch, but this never has. The smell is gentle and a kind of inoffensive traditional washing powder type scent. Just choose a nice perfumed softener if you like your washing to be very fragrant!
It's deffo my fave Basics product, but I also like the spaghetti (can't see the point in spending any more), tinned plum tomatoes (as good as any other), feta (or greek salad cheese as it's labelled) which is lovely and I'm almost addicted to!, fresh chilli peppers (funny shapes and sizes, but who cares when you've chopped 'em up?), rice, any of their cheeses (inc. brie, blue etc), digestive biscuits and crumpets.
I bit the bullet and bought the teabags last week.....and thy're fine! Ok, not the best, but deffo not the worst (and much better than some I bought for 3 times the price from fancy-pants M&S!)

  • i cannot belive how much the basic range has gone up since the start of this thread, loo and kitchen roll is good, tin foil, tinned toms, tinned mushrooms, pasta, salad stuff and most veg, i tend not to buy basic fruit as apples are waxy and past there best. caramel wafers are a must in this house.. my advise would be just try it once if you don't like it you have not spent mega bucks..

your rav on basic washing powder will be fab on whites but strip the colour from your darks as it's loaded with bleach, hence the price... your blacks are proberbly now grey or not far off.....
  • Basics things I would buy again:

Chedder (not enough flavour for me))

zing up the cheddar with marmite it adds the taste of mature cheddar
  • Just want to add the Basics Christmas pudding was quite nice (bit too sweet for me though). Currently snacking on Basics popcorn and it's lovely. :)

The jars of Curry Sauce at 23p each are not bad.

Yeah 4p. They're unlikely to have been making a profit on that though.
