  • I buy the following basics & they are great

    Chocolate Mousse
    Yogurts
    Longlife Skimmed Milk
    Teabags - really good
    Tinned Tomatoes
    Tinned Kidney Beans
    White Chocolate
    Toilet Rolls
    Butter
    Margarine (use this for baking)

Had the basic beef at a friends last night & it was lovely (and I'm fussy with my meat)

My mum is a brilliant cook. I've just been round there and she had basics butter in her fridge to make her cakes - she says it's really good ... and it must be if my mum says so ..... :)

Did anyone manage to get the free sandwich boxes they were handing out today for free? My DH went but was told they'd all gone but he got a leftovers wheel though (which doesn't actually turn )

Then my Mum came round and said that she'd been given 3 of them . I told her I was going to take one of them off her hands :rotfl:.

EC1234 - the basics butter is just as nice as any other butter I've used.

Hey Purplevamp, yes, I got four (two for me and two for my sister). They are great - I needed some new ones anyway - I didn't realise they were giving them away free until I was leaving the shop ..

My leftover wheel didn't turn either .. HEHEHEHE. :p

My wheel was bit stiff but got it going! got 2 free tubs too..the wheel is a cardboard disc that you turn to ,say, vegetables..then it says in a window what you can make with leftover veg etc..
have bought the basics loo roll today..will start it this week..report back later...has anyone tried the bubble bath yet?

  • This is a great thread, so many items in the basics range to try.

If Sainsburys have to substitute an item do they charge you extra if the item is a higher price?

    Thanks
Big Thanks to all those who post competitions you are stars!
  • I didn't get a leftovers tub yesterday, knew nothing about it til my mum told me staff had been standing at the door handing them out when she was at the same store. Still, she went to another local Sainsbury's today, they were giving them out at the till, so she now has 2 (or so she thinks, I might have to alter that!)

Best basics product I've come across so far (apologies if it's already been mentioned) is their basics cheese selection - comes in plain cardboard pack, 4 cheeses (cheddar, red leicester, wensleydale with cranberries & something else with chives which I've forgotten!) All really nice cheeses, easily as good as the expensive cheese boards you usually get in supermarkets.

Yes they charge whatever the normal price is for substitutes, which has annoyed me. I just send them back if they are more than I'm prepared to pay.
