Now your talking, you can't beat a Hollands pie, I love going home to wigan to get a Poole's Meat and potato pie too.

With curry sauce and chips over the pie...mmmmmm..

Curry sauce over Fish and Chips were available in Widnes, not a million miles away from you!

True its not that far but the smell from the road is enough to put me off ever going there, it hums! ;)
  • If this is a Northern thing i've been locked in a cupboard for the last 41 years.
We used to have oxtail soup with a pie or sausage roll in when we were kids.
    Don't do this now!!!!!!

not quite soup and chips but I can remember my mum serving up sausage, peas and mash with tomato soup ...... I can still see all the peas floating round in the bright orange soup!! Bleargh....strange cooking habits my mum!

  • I've never had soup and chips before. Even though it sounds like a weird combination I now have a bizarre desire to try it this afternoon. I love soggy chips and love soup so it sort of makes sense in a strange way. Hmmm wonder what the kids will think if I serve them cauli soup over chips lol.

how completely bizarre. chips and soup. But you know what as biazzare as it sounds , i really think i am gonna have to try this. my home made letnil soup is so thick your spoon stands up in it. so dipping chips into it would work a treat.

nothing cheaper than home made soup and a sakc of spuds to make chips. and i'd imagine this would really fill you up.

Not really the same but as a kid I can remember my mum having no money and very little in the cupboards and she would dish up soup and mash, we always knew when things were bad when the soup and mash came out lol.

same here, it was always tom soup in a bowl and a dollop of mash in the middle, never when my dad was home though. I must say I loved it though, must have it again soon. :T

    I love this :D
Tried it last year because it seemed like a good idea- i like chips, i like soup, so why not stick 'em together?!(gives an idea of the quality of some of my concoctions though...). Crispy oven chips dipped in chilli soup (runny chilli) is delicious!

I've never heard of it and I wouldn't try it either. I hate soggy chips! I don't understand how people can eat chips and gravy, chips with beans on top, chips and curry sauce etc. It just makes me feel uncomfortable lol!:T

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?
