I think I may be ill.. I have never heard of anything so gross in my life.. lol
My children gip at the mention of gravy.. they don't like chips and the thought of having soggy food on your plate..well.. that's just not natural.
Chips with ketchup.. fair enough.. I can almost stomach that
Chips with mushy peas.. fine so long as they aren't touching each other!!
SOGGY FOOD on purpose??????????
*shudder*
each to their own.. but this is almost as bad as fried pies and fried mushy pea balls!
ugghhh that sounds vile that has to beat fried mars bars. yuk give me chips and soup anyday lol.back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
Never heard of it but it sounds absolutely scrummy!!
A bloke came into the butchers where I work a couple of weeks ago and bought some sausages.
He said that for his dinner that evening, he was having, sausage & mash with Heinz vegetable soup poured over it ~ how delish does that sound!!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

As Peter Kays says "You cant have a chip without summat moist on it""Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place." — Abigail Van Buren0 -
Has tha nowt moist?...... heh heh
I am of the opinion, that chippy fish and chips doesn't taste the same unless the chips are covered with fluorescent green peas and a chippy pie dinner doesn't taste as good unless its swimming in gravy.
I remember visiting my sister in London and asking for Curryriceandchips (has to be said quickly in one go :rotfl:) and they just looked at me with their mouths hanging open.
Don't knock it til you've tried it0 -

Hi, just read your post, we always had soup and chips on a Friday in our house to use up chicken broth or beef broth it's delicious. I'm from Stoke originally and the only draw back to now living in Somerset is people look at you really strangely when you mention soup with chips.
Eating this brings back lovely memories of my Dad.
Thanks at least I don't feel quite so weird now.
Enjoy your soup and chips.:beer:DFW Nerd 410:T
Proud to be dealing with our debts:j0 -

I come from down south but have lived in Canada, oop north, the midlands and now in Lincolnshire. I have never heard of it either and to be honest, it sounds revolting. When I was oop north they served curry sauce on fish and chips which I thought was equally revolting. Whilst visiting Winnipeg and eating in a "Typical English Restaurant" they served fish, chips and mushy peas with gravy all over. When I queried this, they told me that it was typically English. I have never heard of anyone having gravy over their fish.
I am sat here waiting for the first one to say fish and gravy is great:DTo Dare is To Do:beer:0 -

I've never heard of it before, but it sounds lovely. I come from oop north and all we ever had on chips was salt and vinegar. I don't like cheese or curry sauce on chips and I'm not keen on gravy - although I like mince or chilli with chips.0
