When I felt myself completely overwhelmed a while back, I went to my GP - I expected either........."what do you expect me to do about it"............"just get on with it"..............or a prescription for something to help me cope.
What I got was an open invitation to talk, and it helped me an awful lot through a difficult few weeks.
OK, so the debt didn't go away, but I could see things in perspective and re-assess the way I was going about things a bit.
Go and see your GP, if you need something to help you sleep, or to get your head in the right place, then you will get help. If you just need someone to talk to who won't judge, then you will get that too.
And you already know the support that you can get on here - take advantage of it whenever you need.

Ok sweetheart, firsly ***hugs***.....think you need them.
Now, cup of tea, relax, breathe deeply.
Have you checked that you are receiving all the benefits that you are entitled to now that your OH is seriously ill?
You have come so far with your debt, you have done so well. Make an appt with CAB to arrange minimum payments to your creditors while you are going through this tough time. And as previously advised, change your phone number. Only deal with creditors in writing, and with the support of a CAB Advisor. make sure the you tell CAB about all priorities inc transport to hosp etc if applicable, so that your offers of payment are genuinely affordable, then you will know you can stick to them.
Then concentrate on yours and your OH's health. It's more important than the money side of things.
Don't let this set back drag you down any further. You have come too far.

Hi, hope you have had a slightly better day and not too worn out. I can see from your previous post that you are doing an awful lot to get your debts down-I learn from everybodys posts and find i can sometimes pick up things i have missed. Have you had a look on the disability benefits forums?. I have been claiming on my daughters behalf for a long time and thought i had sussed the in and outs of it all, well i found out about the vat side of things the other day- no one had told me, just this wonderful place. Its like having the extended family full of the right things-and yes there are a few uncle nobheads as Peter kay might say, but still a great family. Remember we are all here for you. xxBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hi, Just wanted to add to all the thoughts going your way, do change your phone number - I never knew you could do that! and write to creditors requesting written communication only and explain the situation,
You are half way there, what you have achieved is not nothing. it is a huge achievement. be proud. go to your doctors, they can be great, but do be proud of what you have done.
and keep posting here We will worry other wise ((((((hugs))))))))

Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time-I think you have had lots of practical advice on people and organisations which might help-GP is a good place to start. If you are a regular on here, I am sure you have given countless people (including me!) encouragement when we needed it most - I am sure you will come out the other side of this rough patch even stronger than before xxxxx0

Hi Louise,
The problem here is you are dealing with more than just the debts.
You have just found out your DH is really sick and your whole world has come crashing down. Please, take one day at a time, you will be going through all kinds of emotions, including grief and anger.
Your DH is probably being totally unfair on you, but he too is all screwed up also, this will take a period of re-adjustment for you both, its important to stay focused on each other, not the debt, the debt really really is not so important right now.
If the debt calls are getting you down sooo much then either dont ansewr ( I have all phones on silent!) ir change your number, be gentle with yourself and dh, you really have come so far!
Take care and chill out, life is about you and your family right now, screws the blood suckers, they CAN NOT have what you dont have.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
How are you today Louise?0

I would like to say what a wonderful job you have done with the debts so far. You have embraced the problem and are tackling them the best you can in the situation you are in. Hope you feel better soon X0

Hey LM,
Hopefully you're just taking some very well deserved time out and having some 'me' time.
Your silence is slightly worrying though so please let us know you're ok sometime soon.
Big Hugs. Who knows where thoughts come from - they just appear!:beer:0
