Melissa, are you going to start using handmade stickers? Good way to advertise!
Yeah I might do. I keep getting offers from vistaprint or someone where I can get 200 free business cards, I think all I have to pay is the postage so I might get those and put one inside each card! I'm not sure yet. I might speak to my Mum and ask her about the feedback from the cards.

Great if you can get them for free! Do you know anyone else who could take a box of your cards to work?

I have 3 card parties booked for Novemeber just from word of mouth... a few other ideas, maybe you could do posters and place them in your local florist or shop windows
If you have small children ask the moms at the school gate to have a card/craft party one night or any other people you know that have a different lot of friends
On the back of your cards dont just have "handmade by" have "cards for all occasions by" that way people will kow you dont just do the type of card you hae sent out

I have made my own cards using this site http://www.printed4u.co.uk/choose.asp?c=10 great once you have used your free ones off vista or if you want something you can design yourself
If you click on the image you like it takes you to the wording section then just right click and save once you open it in windows gallery you can get multiple images on one piece of card
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

Rainmac - I don't really know anyone else that would take them into work for me. I feel a bit cheeky, I only sent some for my Mum's boyfriend because he offered so many times.
Thanks for the advice saveapenny. I don't really know that many people to ask to a card party - but it sounds like a great idea. Have you had any before?
  • Oh wow lovely cards from everyone! Well I've now got instructions as to how to post a picture so I might be brave and try an ATC - not done anything like that before! I googled and came up with this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artist_trading_cards

if anyone wants more info on ATC's.

Not sure if I'll have the time to try an ATC this week, sorry - would love to have a go though! I've got my first proper card making work - 75 embellishments to go onto Orders of Service. It involves wrapping squares of card in mulberry paper, wrapping thin wire around the square several times and sticking a metal shape on top of the wire. They look lovely when done but quite a lot of work for each & are fiddly - and there's 75 to do, eeeek :eek:Will I rise to the challenge? I'll keep you posted ;)

Course you will -but if you're struggling for time and need some peace and quiet to work uninterrupted then give me a shout I'm quite happy to take the boys to the park for an hour!

Yes I did 2 last year and did quite well
I also have a couple of friends wo take them into work
Thats why this year I have over 200 to make and once they go into my frinds work I have roughly about 40 orders for special cards:eek: as well as a wedding for 150 people by October. Plus 120 cake boxes for my aunties golden wedding anniversary party
I made just under £350 last year making christmas cards alone so this year I am hoping to hit the £500 on Christmas cards and the same on weddings
A small party should bring in about £50-£100 is well worth taking the time to advertise in shops
I started by calling all the nursing homes a few years back because I enjoyed making them so much but couldnt get anywere to sell them and its just took off

Just had an email from www.artymiss.co.uk offering free printables to download and print for background papers. All you need to do is sign up to their newsletter. I think they will offer different ones each week or something.
