That 'gaunt face' thing is interesting, I've had that said to me too and I think it's been mentioned by someone else on here before (Victory?)

For me if that's the trade off for being a healthy weight, then so be it,

Sorry, just dipping in here - but I remember Courntney Cox saying in an interview in RED magazine last year that there is definitley a trade off between your face and behind as you get older.... the only time that she personally is happy with her backside is when her face is so gaunt she looks ill, and since her face is literally her fortune, she has to trade of a huge rear end (right!:rotfl: ) with looking healthy and "normal" (yeah right:rolleyes: ).. so I guess it must be a common enough problem! (saunters off wishing that it was one of mine!) lol.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

I do think though when you get to a certain age, having a bit of weight on you is FAR more attractive than being skinny. You end up a yellow shrivelled raisen if youre too thin too old.

My mum is about a size 18, she is such a !!!!!! in comparison to her same aged thinner friends. She is 60, but the weight makes her far more attractive. The fat acts as botox.

So i guess as you get older the chances of looking more Gaunt are increased. Or yellow shrivelled raisen.

funny thing about the gaunt face comment I got it too when I was at my lowest weight and I was feeling [and as I thought looking my best] Its when your weight loss is obvious and people start saying you've lost enough now YOU'RE LOOKING GAUNT and dont lose any more its when I think some folks are feeing either jealous or threatened so take no notice ;do what suits you and what you are happy with

Katyk, so sorry about your bereavement too. 55... much too young :([/quote]

    Thanks Missyg
Was actually my ex-BIL as he and sis divorced a few years ago but I was only 11 when they married so I'd known him over 33 years. It was quite a blow when he had a stroke so young
However on a brighter note he had the kind of funeral I would think he would have loved. He was always a great motorbike lover and they remained a passion all his life. He worked as a courier, an advanced test instructor and overseeing races etc as well as attending many rallies with his bike club. When he worked in non-bike jobs he still maintained the love as a hobby.
My sis knew his bike club would want to attend the funeral so she went up to see them and was told 9 clubs wished to attend, one of whom was coming from abroad. In the end there were over 200 bikers following the funeral procession from church to crem and they totally held up the traffic for about 10-15 minutes. Funnily enough the vicar who buried him (and who genuinely was the vicar for the church in question and was his mums vicar for the last 10-15 years) loves nothing more in his spare time than zooming about on his Harley so he asked if he could come on his bike too and he performed the service in big bikers boots, full leathers, tshirt with silver motorbike on it and dog collar with the purple scarf thingy (Sorry! mind gone blank). Definitely a funeral to remember and Steve would have loved it. Just such a pity he could not be there to see it but I have no doubt he has attended one or two similar ones in his time.

Thanks wendy, got your PM and have replied.:D

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been told about their 'gaunt face' ! It really struck a chord with me as I thought I looked great (and I certainly felt it !) Thing is though, when they said it, I still could have feasibly lost another stone so they'd probably say I looked skeletal if I did manage to get to my ideal weight. (For clarity - I weighed 16st 10lb before I embarked on my first weight loss journey and got down to 11st 3, so I was by no means, a size zero !) For those mathmeticians amongst us, you should be able to work out my weight now from what I've just said and previous posts ! lol :rotfl:

Also wanted to say deepest sympathies for the lady who's lost someone close (sorry I can't see your screen name from here).
    :jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j
