Happy Birthday Granny!!
Hope you had a lovelly day:j :j :j
I gotta get an assignment in on thurs so im gunna get stuck into that. Im really hoping my new game doesnt arrive today else it will be temptation over drive!
Have a good day all folks, i know i'll come on here later when i get totally bored!0 -
Thanks for the welcome back people - it is like being taken back into a family here.(and heaven knows I have disappeared and reappeared often enough).
There won't be any fatted calves left at this rate.
Happy belated BD Granny - loved the picture a few pages back for grannycise!! If I could do that, I'd be laughing!!
Suggs, have a great time in HK. And try not to let nasty comments from your ex get to you too much. Kids ain't as daft as they are made out to be and will ultimately make their own minds up. They know their dad and why they love him, regardless of who says what, and they will realise that mum's view is biased. Still, I really wish people would leave kids out of it all as much as possible.
I believe I am doing the race for life this year (DD wanted to do so last year but we faffed about too much and never got round to it. Problem is that I know running 5K would probably half kill me but walking 5K seems too easy
to ask people for sponsorship - I walk that most days (or will get back to doing so) anyway. Will have to set myself a target to do it within a certain time limit and maybe go for 'run-20-steps-walk-20-steps' or something similar - might turn into run-10-walk-100 by the end of the race! DD wants her pals to enter too and they need me along as they are all around 12 and cannot enter as a group without an adult tagging along.
Off to tidy house now as having a multi-sleepover for DD on Thursday. Was intended for after the birthday party but I too had a bereavement (BIL- only 55!) and had to get a train south on the day it was planned for so now happening this week. DS trying to cadge a sleepover at his pals house that night as an escape and DH threatening to seek the travelodge! Won't really but will probably have an early night at about 8pm and leave me to it. Just me and five 12 year olds, two of whom are currently not speaking to each other!!! Oh joy! I sense the danger of a binge coming on that night! I may well need chocolate as sustenance to see me through!0 -
PS Good luck with all the studying students! I remember it well and don't envy you one bit. Agree totally that you should put study before calories on the priorities list right now. Just try not to gain and have plenty of low cal snacks lying around rather than chocolate and crisps, in an attempt to minimise the dangers!0

Hey all, hope it's not too depressing for everyone going back to normal after the long weekend...!
I think I've probably had a bit of everything that's been mentioned to cause the 8lb gain - change in mealtime routine, different foods, extra leg muscle from the skiing, climate (I was in northern Sweden & Norway and it went between -3 and -30 degrees!) and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some bloat from flying as Suggs said, as I landed less than 24 hours before weigh in. Perhaps I should have had a week off doing a weigh in and wait to see how things balance out. I am 4lb lighter this morning :rotfl:
I really miss the slopes already, it was such amazingly good exercise that didn't feel like a chore for even a second. Getting on the bike back home just isn't the same!
QT2006, the 2 months will fly by and then we'll celebrate with you!
Grannynise happy belated birthday!(the Grannycise thing was a classic by the way...) My son wanted to share his easter egg with me yesterday but I told him I could only have a small piece, and he gave me a piece about the size of his fingernail :rotfl: So far that's all the choccie I've eaten, but he has three more sitting unopened on the shelf
Boddy, so sorry to hear about the bereavement, always a very difficult time. Take care.
Beanie, have you travelled a lot then? What's your fave place?
Hello LilmissmupCongrats on your loss so far. 13lb more in 10 weeks should be doable, but as you already know the lighter we are, the harder it is to get each lb off!
Hi Jtb2412 & welcome. You don't have to post your weight unless you want to, but most people here share what they have lost so far and their progress each week, you'll soon pick it up! Good luck.
Happy travels Suggs if you read this in time.0 -
Oops didn't notice there was a page 36...
Vix hope the assignment goes well, I don't envy you and the other students either, but we've all been there... Best of luck with it all.
Katyk, so sorry about your bereavement too. 55... much too young0 -
Assignment not going well. I cant get into it
I hate this sodding enterprise rubbish.
Times like this, i need bernads watch!0 -
Thanks for the lovely welcome - i'm grateful to be in good hands !
Weighed myself this morning and was just about what I thought I was (funny how you can tell your weight when you're used to watching it so carefully !)
I need to lose about 2 1/2 stone (possibly 3) but will see how I go. Everyone said that I looked gaunt in my face when I lost it before but I felt good so i'm just going to go to what I feel comfortable with.
First mini target for me is 7lb by the end of April. Even though I do put on the weight very quickly, I do lose it quickly too so this should be easily achievable. I've started in earnest today, had a good breakfast, fruit for snack and going to get my lunch in a tick.
I probably won't 'weigh in' until next Weds (2nd April) - otherwise i'll have only been at it for a day:eek: !
I'll look forward to reading your progress tomorrow !:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -
That 'gaunt face' thing is interesting, I've had that said to me too and I think it's been mentioned by someone else on here before (Victory?)
For me if that's the trade off for being a healthy weight, then so be it, but I'm not convinced I look 'gaunt', just thinner in the face (though I'm also not getting any younger :rotfl: )
I sometimes wonder if there are some people who can't pay a compliment ("you've lost weight") without taking it back with the other hand ("but you look gaunt in the face").
Glad the first weigh in was about what you thought Jtb0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm reporting a 1lb gain this week  . I had a meal out on Saturday and ate far more than I should have. I was also "helping" my daughter with some of her easter eggs over the weekend so I should be glad it was only 1lb! Never mind, there's always next week.
Welcome to all the newbies and returners, well done to the losers and maintainers and stick at it to all the gainers!
Claire xThanks to all who post competitions!!0 -
hello all! I'm back off campaign!
Have decided that camping in march is just too early. On friday morning I put on 2 pairs of socks, a pair of long johns, medieval smock, linen dress, wool dress, wool hood and mittens. And i didn't take off any of it for any reason until monday morning. I've had to tether the laundry basket down to keep it from walking away by itself. On the plus side, the eating has been pretty well controlled and I avoided the booze and I'm BOUND to have used up a few calories shivering so who knows what tomorrow may bring? Also took some really pretty pictures of warwick castle in the snow with no people or footprints around. Ended up not having the pigeon but someone else did do lots of game - including the pheasant we found in the moat that had been mauled by a fox. A large party of American children were howling the place down as the ladies happily disembowelled their way through the pile of assorted game.
Have scanned through the rest of the thread but there's just too much to go through so congrats to anyone who deserves them, commiserations to anyone who needs them, hello to the new guys and lots of welcome backs to those who've been on holiday or got lost for a bit.0
