  • True, it's like me and cheese, I know if I buy a block I will scoff the lot, so I buy it only very rarely. I have a small tub of dry parmisan I have on spag bol etc.
If I told myself 'no cheese' then had a little, I'd think 'well I've failed now, might as well eat the lot'!
I'm not really into cakes & choc & sweet things. It's the savory pies, pasties & roasts that get me!
Yes, I agree FFM & raph. What I have loved about SW is that every day I get to have 42g of mature half fat cheddar so don't feel deprived of cheese, also my favourite. I take my hat off to you peeps who are losing weight by portion control and sensible cutting back. I guess we are all different but I find it very freeing to have the (very flexible) structure SW gives. Without it I think I would eat more cheese, but this shows me how much I can enjoy and still lose weight, or maintain. I think it was seren saying yesterday she wanted an eating structure that wouldn't change when she reached goal, and for her SW didn't offer enough of that but for me I very much regard SW as a permanant eating structure, for life, because for me it is so flexible and I can eat healthily on it and food I like. I can still have treats but have the plan to get back on track very simply.
It is so important to find a way to lose weight that suits you and your lifestyle and that is sustainable. It is so interesting to hear about the range of approaches on here. All of us regulars know that quick fixes just don't last. It's nearly a year since I started my weight loss journey and now is the time I was thinking about last year 'this time next year I really want to be 2 stone lighter' not really believing I could finally do it. But a lb a week or 2lbs a month does add up over time, and time always passes. And slow off equals easier to keep off.

Have just found some Green and Blacks 85% Chocolate at the back of the cupboard. Mr GN is away for two nights .... maybe he was hiding it? The scoundrel. Well, I ate about 4 squares and then put some more (rather not say how much:eek: ) in my mouth. It was so horrible I had to spit it out. Could this be the beginning of the end of my ongoing love affair with chocolate? I do hope so.

Might go and look for some more now just to check my theory .......

Don't think I'll try it in a lump of quark, though, FFM

Same here, this time last year I was 2 stone and 7lbs heavier - now I am 7lbs under the target I was aiming for. All my weight came off in 1lb and 2lb chunks each week.

At the time it seemed slow but it was steady, looking back now it wasn't so bad.

Thankfully I now have you guys to keep me on the straight and narrow :T . It's amazing how focussing it is to know that each week I have to 'fess up' to any gains.

Raphael, I'm the opposite - can take or leave savouries, I'm the type who opens a box of chocolates and won't stop until they have completely gone (and I feel sick :o - I needed a green face but they only do the purple one.)

    FFM :)
    sick3qx.gifWill this one do? :p

Nessa, I try to walk straight by the cheese aisle, but next time I need cheese I will check out quark.
Last time I bought some chedder I grated it & but it in the freezer. It seemed to work as it lasted almost 2 weeks :rotfl:

I can't believe I've lost 2 stone since June last year! Even if I don't make my June target or 14 stone, I'll be a lot slimmer & healthier than the year before!

I will be thinking about this comment a lot on ym way into work....is exactly how I feel....

'I'll never make it'...trouble is when the thought catches up with you (every other day in my case) everything heads towards the bin (aka....my mouth ).

I agree with you Bb, SW is a really felxible plan but I have a meat loving OH (apparently its not a proper meal if there's no meat) but I generally find that after my bowl of cereal and a sandwich at work I'm out of healthy B's....I know if I figured out the red days a bit more and got more organised i MIGHT have a chance at stiking to it....so maybe I'll give it a go in the summar when the weather calls for salads :D

gs green and blacks choc, yummy:D I still have some little mini eggs left over from easter, I have one every now and then;)

My cheese now is philadelphia extra light, downfall is white bread and real bacon which has been replaced with brown WW toast bread and Mattersons less than 3% fat turkey rashers. Everything can be replaced.

x-raph I can't work on the idea that everything is a 'diet' that there are no treats and you must eat this and this only, it is a life change, an adaption, portion control, not buying it in the first place, like the other day the magnum ice creams were on half price and I bought them, I knew they were there and could not relax:rotfl: :rotfl: I ended up insisting the kids had one so that I could have a little bit off one ( a whole one would be too much sugar) once I had a little bit I was settled then, if I was to be told I could not have it it would have been a mission to have not only a little bit but the whole lot:rotfl:

One child off school for teachers strike, the other at school, so will take him to Macdonals, he loves the happy meal, subway have scrapped their sub of the day, loved the turkey one so will take my own lunch from here.

Paella was very nice last night, greasy I would say but they wolfed it down and some left over for tonight.
