I missed RC tonight as have been at mum's preparing for Greek Easter which is this weekend, and I'll be spending tomorrow at her's baking ALL DAY!

I've been in a lot of pain since my visit to the [STRIKE]physio[/STRIKE] sadist yesterday. I apparently have a lazy slight slouch a problem with one of my vertebrae and this impacts on my shoulder problem, and i have an extra bit of cartilidge in my wrist which is what causes me the pain there. I have to go for more [STRIKE]treatment[/STRIKE] torture next week.

My scales at home show me as the same weight as last week so can you put me down as a maintain ...again.

A quick hello to all the newbies, and congrats to all the losers.

Landia - They covered the maple syrup diet on upersize vs superskinny and she said that it was awful. If you ask me not eating at all is no way to go about losing weight because as soon as you start eating again the weight will go on.
    Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j

Has anyone tried the 'Maple Syrup Diet/Detox'? I'm thinking of trying this one, but can't seem to find anywhere that sells the special syrup. Is there stockist that sells the stuff in a store rather than having to buy online and wait days??

Hello Landia, and welcome to the thread.

Did you see "Natalie Cassidy's Diet Secrets"? It was on BBC3 on Monday night, not sure if it is due to be repeated soon.

Natalie trialled the Maple Syrup Diet for 5 days whilst making the programme, she ended up collapsing with heart palpitations. Basically the diet was a liquid only diet that restricted her calorie intake to only 300 cals per day.

I have not seen it in shops, but then again I don't look at 'diet products' in shops - the best way to lose weight (only in my humble opinion) is to change eating habits to something that is sustainable long term. Faddy diets/detoxes are only as good as the time you can do them for, if you then go back to your original eating plan the weight will just go back on - and if you have been following a 300 cal/day diet/detox your body may think it is in a time of 'famine' and could have moved into 'fat storage mode'.

Sorry if I have come across as 'preachy', I'm not really like that - but I thought that particular diet was rather scarey.

If others want to see what the diet is there is a website that sells it here: http://www.slimmingsolutions.co.uk/acatalog/Lemon-Detox-Diet.html?gclid=CLnFkKaB8pICFQGiQwodPWUL4Q

Not sure, but I think you can download the TV Programme here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00b0x65

    Thanks for the chart delly
    Wow SOTW!! :D

Now I feel really guilty that I'm sat here drinking a can of beer :rotfl: I need to stop myself this week. One of our drivers bought a big box of chocs into work for us, so I've been picking at them the last two days. I need to keep on it else I'll end up putting it back on. I am going to enjoy my beer tonight, and the beef & mushroom pie I'm attempting to make later, then I will really knuckle down.
I don't want to get too complacent and think I can relax a little, as it'll all go back on again. I'm only 0.8 lbs under 15 stone, and I really don't want to go back over!

    Congrats to everyone glomp.gif

That is the problem with the word diet, it no longer means 'the food you eat' now it means cutting down & starving yourself.
I keep telling myself I am not on a diet, I am changing my eating habits for the better. I completely agree with FFM, losing a lot of weight in such a short time is no good, the weight will just go straight back on when you return to your normal eating patterns.
There is a girl at work who is using sliming tablets, while she keeps having takeaways, and another who has joined the same gym as me, and is still eating junk food!! I really can't see the point of paying £43 a month and slogging my guts out at the gym, if I'm just going to stuff my face with fatty burgers & fried chicken!
You need to change all aspects of your life, exercise & diet wise, for anything to work.

That said, occassional treats are good :D *takes another swig of beer*

    Totally agree, everything in moderation.

If you 'ban' something that you enjoy you will feel 'deprived' and that is when you 'cheat', then you feel 'guilty' and that you have 'failed' and then you give up. It's just a downward spiral.

So, a little of what you fancy does you good :rotfl:

True, it's like me and cheese, I know if I buy a block I will scoff the lot, so I buy it only very rarely. I have a small tub of dry parmisan I have on spag bol etc.
If I told myself 'no cheese' then had a little, I'd think 'well I've failed now, might as well eat the lot'!
I'm not really into cakes & choc & sweet things. It's the savory pies, pasties & roasts that get me!

  • Raphael, I'm the opposite - can take or leave savouries, I'm the type who opens a box of chocolates and won't stop until they have completely gone (and I feel sick :o - I needed a green face but they only do the purple one.)

Have you tried the minibell cheese extra light or

buy Quark cheese 0% fat and if you put in a tablespoon of philadelphia cheese and leave it overnight it all tastes like philadelphia cheese? scarcely any calories at all.

you can put a few cubes of cheddar cheese in it and it will take on the flavour.

    amazing stuff, try it
