What do you mean found out? Not been found out about anything. Have you not heard of condensed courses? I did my ONC in a little over 6 months although it did help somewhat that I'd done a decent chunk of it at O level via O level Physics with Electronics and O level Control Technology.0 -
Interesting point - if Linux takes off in the portable/laptop PC market then it really will push down prices.
It's not looking likely especially now Asus has just announced they're going to release the Eee PC with XP on worldwide.
Also lovely things like laptop-tools package used in many distributions killing laptop hard drives doesn't help.0 -

Games on a laptop? I use a desktop for that and if I'm bored sitting on a train/plane then I have my PDA phone with WM6 for all my other needs. Wine can also run most games.
Peripherals? Not had any major problems with mine - alright I have an XFI soundcard and I had to wait awhile for linux drivers but if a major supplier like Asus is building and selling it as a packaged product then its going to have all that preinstalled.
My point was, if you are working on your laptop (which is what the original idea behind laptops was, before everyone decided they would use it as a replacement for a desktop) then your main use is office type applications. And between all the different OS options, whats the major difference?Faith is believing what you know ain't so...0 -

I suppose just work wise it may present a few compatibility issues/hassles (word 07 etc). But all depends on your individual circumstances."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Personal preference?
Most people prefer Windows - that is a fact.
I know I seem to and I've tried quite a few linux flavours. Windows isn't my all time favourite OS but I don't really feel any linux distro is quite right though. TBH if I got myself a laptop I wouldn't be going for the minimalist cut down type anyway as I've already got a PDA for that kind of thing."She is quite the oddball. Same here - over the years I have also tried a few and never been taken with any of them.0 -

I've not tried the latest Mac OSes (been quite a few years since I used a mac) though so I'm not sure what I'd make of them in comparison."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Wine can also run most games. ;)quote]
Which games would those be then?????
OEM microsoft is only very popular becase untill recently, the only choice of OS you had was MS Window, MS Windows, OR MS WINDOWS!!!
Thank god the likes of Dell have finally seen the light and offered the chioce of a non MS Windows OS. This also brings the price down, which is a double whammy for the Microsoft empire.
The more people migrate, the more other OS's will be improved, its going to be a landslide......
But then there comes the problem that the more people that use the alternative OS's the more security risks will become apparent.
At least the alternatives are open source and wont cost the end user. This is why Microsoft are bringing prices down and giving away free software. They have their backs against the wall........To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -
