All hail the great trucker Conor..... <shakes his head and walks away>

Oh you're another of those cretins who thinks all truck drivers are yorkie munching knuckle draggers are you?

Err, just a bit of information boyo...

I've been into IT for 25 years both building, programming (proper low level machine/assembler stuff) and repairing to component level. I've been into electronics engineering for 22 years. I hold a MCSE, which I've had for 8 years, and a BTEC HNC Electronics Engineering which I've had for 20 years. I've been doing both far longer than truck driving. In fact, I've been a qualified vehicle mechanic longer than I've been as truck driver. I've probably earned more in a weekend doing a network installation than you earn in a month.

So yes, I drive a lorry but by no means is it the only thing I can do. Your opinion that I can't possibly do anything else because I'm a lorry driver would suggest you yourself are in fact a "one trick pony" who has done the same thing all their life and assumes everyone else to have the same narrow minded intellect you possess.

Andf yes, I suspect that xubuntu would fly on a P3 because it's got a 1990's GUI.

Just purchased a new laptop with Vista Premium installed, and so far, am very impressed. The laptop is dual core, 300GB hard drive, 2GB memory and the little beast zips along. There is lots to learn about the new system but I'm definitely experiencing 'The Wow Factor'.

Crikey, you've inferred a lot out of that little jest. I don't believe I mentioned any of that addressed by your diatribe. If you don't want people to think you're a 'knuckle-dragger', why not try and be less abrasive in your posts? Er, boyo.......

Doesn't matter how many qualifications/experience one has, I've yet to see a qualification that suddenly makes rudeness perfectly acceptable.

You don't have to defame other peoples choices

Linux is not a hobby, the majority of internet business is done on Linux servers. Apple fans are too busy happily, productively, creatively using their stuff to bother getting into the debate.

Quite weird you think it's defamatory to be known as liking Apple or Linux......

and the inventor of Linux called it a Hobby OS, is he defaming you as well?

Said by one Linus Torvalds (Linus - Linux, get the connection?)
I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and professional like gnu) for 386(486) AT clones.

I cannot believe there are still people using the 1980s phrase "Apple Fan Boys". Blimey are you still at school trading insults in the playground?

    80's phrase?
Fanboy (sometimes spelt fanboi) is a term used to describe an individual who is devoted to a single fannish subject, or to a single point of view within that subject, often to the point where it is considered an obsession. Fanboys remain loyal to their particular obsession.

As many quotes as you want, all current, (find some more for yourself if you want, it's really easy, open www.google.com in your browser, and search term as "fanboy" or "apple fanboy" and sit back and read), and most actually from pro-Apple people, "Apple fanboy" is a current term, and means exactly what I said.

Perhaps you should do a little research before posting in the future.

Hate to say we told you so.
When Vista was first released there was a big debate as to whether or not to migrate from XP. Well the proof was definately in the pudding, and Vista has definately cause an awful lot of headaches. (and still is)
Microsoft is losing its grip big time,(and money). Perhapse they should have released SP3 before even attempting to release a new OS, more and more people are migrating to Mac and Linux now its getting easier to use, is time running out for the Microsoft empire?

Watch out Bill Gates the Penguin is coming for you :rotfl:

It's not bad if you use decent hardware. If you find it's dragging a bit, see what the wmpsrv process is doing as sometimes it sits there cataloging all your media files which is a pain when you have a lot like I do. You can disable it if you want as its only of any use if you want to connect media extenders such as Xbox 360.
