Hi, you've got my sympathies there.
Sounds like you've got a pet husband that needs to be trained with a bread and water diet. What a selfish oaf. This does not sound very much like a partnership at all.For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -

I was going to suggest he sounds like he still acts like he's living with parents who sort everything out for him.DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

Morning all
Thanks for all replies..gives me a lot to think about .....
I sometimes think as I have to cope with everything myself & try to support my husband as well ,maybe I would be better on my own ....I was ill with stress 2 years ago as i felt overwhelmed with trying to float everything.
Over the weekend I have told him there is no money...I actually have £20 left in my account today after half the bills have been paid...I have no money to pay all the cc bills.....it is quite shocking how I have hit the buffers in such a short time....
Today is D Day !! I have to call First Direct to try to keep my account open.
I have contacted CCCS by email this morning & they suggest I offer lower payments to my Creditors & to move my account to another Bank.
I could definately do this...does anyone think I should cancel all my direct debits & transfer them to this other account ?
Got a real shock when CCCS says it will take 30 years to pay off my debts if I carry on at the same rate...
I am going to phone my mortgage company for some payment hols which wud be fantastic & get a new tariff for my mobile & gas etc
Am highly tempted to get a large loan to pay off loan & ccs...but this could be disastrous..
Hey ho !!
Congratulations to PandaPaws on your fantastic news...i really admire your attitude xxx0 -
Evening you lovely people,
just thought i wud update u on my miraculous progress today....triggered purely from advice....
Filled out Debt Remedy form on CCCS website.Very helpful reply (apart from the sell ur house bit  ).
They advised me to transfer my salary to a different bank account as i have a loan with First Direct (who are going to close my bank account )
Reactivated an old Halifax bank account.....all dds being transfered & the Halifax gave ME £50 for that. They also;completely unprompted gave me a £1000 overdraft...(very scary)
Cancelled 3 direct debits due to be paid in next few days so bank cant hammer me with charges again....
Called my Mortgage provider & sorted out a 3 month repayment holiday !!:T
So come 1st April i will be able to pay off my "screamers" &....when the god forsaken insurance claim from vet turns up i can pay off some more...
Hurah !
That only leaves £40k to go......
I just really hope the switch over of Bank accounts goes ok without First direct telling Halifax that they were going to withdraw the banking facility ?.....they wudnt wud they ............
Am also planning to confront OH with a request for £400 minimum.a month which is a third of the bills not including my debts....as someone said he cudnt rent a room for £300 a month in London !
Still skint but have a light in the tunnell now thanks to you guys xxxxx
Still to phone First Direct.........to ask for two weeks grace to sort things out.......after the v nasty experience on the phone on friday i am somewhat reluctant..........:o
ok im going......0 -
Well done... sounds like a productive day. Try not to just use this as fire fighting to sort out just the immediate problem.
Try and keep the control now, keep a spending diary every day to see where your money is actually going.
Like I said before literally go through each bill/debt on your SAO and see if you can get it cheaper or get rid of it altogether.
And lastly take some control with the OH you cannot/should not do this alone especially when you help him out so much... Things should be much more balanced. Or suggest HE rents a place, you sell yours and you will give HIM £300 and you will be rolling in it ;-)0 -
Love that idea ...wudnt it be FAB to only have to pay £300 a month ?
Putting it like that gives me even more resolve !
Have a few days off to pick apart my bills (got mobile onto lower tariff today also)....
Cheers ...Keeping Motivated...u are doing just that 4 me xxx0 -
Your welcome but its you who has done the hard work. Its just the 'thrashing' it out with people on here that makes all the difference to how we think about things.
And also there are people on here who are 'real' experts in finances and their tips are amazing. My bits are just to throw ideas around in the hope that it helps.
Good luck keep us informed with how things are going for you x0 -
with you earning £2100 and OH £1000 (by the way why is this so low?),
£1000 isn't so low on minimum wage that would be a full time job. In fact where I work full time (38.5 hrs per week) is less than that. The wage is just over minimum wage.Proud to be dealing with my debts through cccs
#3 MAD ebay challange aim £500 so far £390.17 :j0 -
Great result today with all the banks and especially the mortgage holiday!
One tiny warning about the Halifax: we changed our account to them a while ago to take advantage of a free £100 they were offering, which was fine. They did the auto transfer of our Direct Debits, BUT what they didn't tell us was that they would automatically cancel the old instructions with all the companies on our behalf, whether the new instructions had been processed or not. So we ended up with 2 months of hell, with charges from companies for missed payments that weren't our fault, as we thought they were taken by DD. So just watch out for that!!! Also, I discovered later that they charge £39 if you go over your overdraft by a penny - a bit harsh I thought! (although I waffled a bit, shouted a bit, and even 'cried' to them on the phone and got it refunded!).
Get yourself over to the £10 a day challenge - I was very skeptical at first, but by doing various 'challenges' on here I've made over £3000 in 2 months, and that's all truly free money that I wouldn't have had otherwise. It really is worth it, and it's a bit like being a kid playing a game again to see how much you can clock up! It's good fun too (never thought I'd say that about an online forum either - not normally my thing!) and great motivation to keep things under control.
Have another good day tomorrow, hopefully!0 -
