!!!! hits fan

Evening all ,this is my first post ever....I was dealing with my debts until I hit Xmas & one of my kittens has been ill & still is costing me hundreds of pounds in Vet bills.(waiting 6 weeks for insurance claim).To pay these bills I have took a lot of cash out of credit cards & went £900 into an unauthorised overdraft..
To cut to the chase...I called First Direct for a temporary o/d of £1000 for 3 months & the (very harsh) guy told me they were going to remove my banking facility !!!:eek: :eek: :eek: .I asked him not to do that & he said they wouldnt close the account for 3 days & I have to call them back.
I am really terrified about what is going to happen as I have a £17k loan out with them ...has anyone had any experience of this ?......i would be grateful for any advice...I think I should post an SOA Tonight as I think I have reached the "tipping point"
My first reaction is to grab the first loan I can get ...but I am terrified of making a big problem even worse !!!!!!!! Tring to stay :cool:

    Hiya!

    That does sound a bit harsh of First Direct, but then the whole HSBC group have been acting a bit bizarrely lately. I don't really know about them removing your banking facility, but as long as you've been making the repayments on your loan I'm sure they can't demand that back or anything - there'll be a credit agreement in force which will say what they can and can't do, and I'm sure they can't demand it back in full.

    Is there anything you can do to earn a quick bit of cash to see you through until the insurance money comes through? Can you tell them to get their finger out and hurry up?

    Hope the kitten gets better soon!

    First thing that you need to do is make yourself a drink and sit down and take a deep breath and then start puting together your SOA which other much more knowledgeable posters will be able to go through and make some helpful suggestions. I know how frightening your situation is because less than a year ago I found myself there but with a different bank but like you will do I survived it and am even getting to the point where I can almost smile about it. Things are never as bad as they seem and before you know it you will be inundated with helpful advice and suggestions. :D

    hiya,first make a brew or summat stronger lol,as someone said things always seem worse than they are,and theres always a solution,you got a very rude person to speak to and if it was me id first complain about how you was spoken to,no one has the right to be rude to you,sometimes these people talk to customers like were something theve trodden in
  • Thanks a lot for these replies...they really calm me down.:p
    I know I am in debt but I have been paying First Direct £150 a month in charges so they are making something out of me !
    But youre right ;they do not have to be so very harsh & aggressive...I actually think the guy was enjoying every single second of every question..I think I may complain....I was shaking when I came off the phone.
    I,m trying to find how to post an Soa.....gulp xx

  • Hiya,I have had a credit card since I was eighteen...& now that I have hit 40 I have collected a whole lotta debts on the way....
    This journey has culminated in First direct saying it was going to withdraw my banking facility(close my account ) last friday when I asked them for a £1000 overdraft for 3 months....
    I have always managed to pay everything ..until friday.,those unexpected vet bills just finished me off .
    Here is my SOA...i hope one of you wise & lovely people might have an idea b4 I plunge into the Loan abyss : ))

    I take home approx £2,2oo per month & my husband gives me around £300.

    Rent=£202
    Loan=£371
    Ctax=£161
    Gas=£30
    Elec=£15
    Boiler=£27
    Tv lic=£11.60
    Pet ins=£11.90
    Orange=£45
    Cooker=£25
    Travel=£50
    Petrol=£110
    Food=£300++
    Water=£16

    DEBTS
