Did you go through Quidco and use one of the discount codes to bring the price down?
It would have been cheaper taking out another company's policy for the TV rather than the Currys one.One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.0 -
I bought it in the shop. It was £550 in the shop but they price matched it to the web price of just under £500. They do have a 28 day no quibble refund guarantee if you change your mind but it must be unopened which its not. I know Im not entitled to a refund just looking to see the possibilities.
Have you checked the costco one has VAT in the price?
- Yes it includes VAT0 -
If the price of TV went up because I don't know, there was a shortage of a component and currys came to you and asked for an extra 50 quid would you give them it?
You've accepted their offer, you did well getting them to price match in the first place. Prices change and it's just tough luck really.0 -
Well, in truth you unfortunately have no right of return. There is nothing wrong with the TV, you just changed your mind!
You bought at what you thought was a good price.
Yes, it's annoying when you find something better and cheaper after you have made a purchase, but hey, that's all part of life's rich tapestry!
If you damage the TV and return it you are committing fraud and indirectly increasing prices for everyone else. Just imagine if everyone who found the same problem as you broke the item and returned it - prices would have to rise.
Learn from it, and I hope you find what you truly want next time!
All the best,
Eph x (hugs)If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

Put it on ebay and hope you get a good price. You never know you might get what you paid for it.
I sold used electronic stuff on ebay in the past and got more than I paid for it new. (on rare occasions)0 -
It isnt really cheaper though is it? I think the OP said it is £200 more expensive for a larger model and possibly longer guarantee.
I dont think they are obliged to refund though as they have supplied what was paid for in good working order.0 -

Now Costco are doing the same TV but in 40" with a 3 year guarantee for £200 more which seems a better buy. What reason do I give to Currys for returning my TV. Its been out the box and plugged in so I cant use the 'Ive changed my mind excuse' and dont want the option of having another TV. I just want a full refund. Can anyone advise please. thanks
Suppose you sold someone your car for £500. Then she returned a week later and asked for her money back because she had seen another car she would rather have. I'm certain you would oblige.
So be positive and take an optimistic view of the situation. Go into Currys and explain the problem. They are reasonable people too.

Ebay would probably be your best option. As for wiring the suggestion for wiring the scart socket into the mains - I really don't think that would be a good idea....0

If you have all the packing : box, polystyrene, polythene bags/covers even the little cover for the 13amp plug. You have kept it all haven't you!!!!!!
Wipe clean any dust, finger prints from the TV and repack take your time and replace everything.
Now go back to Curry's white lie time you have changed your mind and evoking the returns policy.
If the shop is busy they will take the box as it stands if quiet they will unpack to make sure it is ok.
Either way they will have to take it out of the box to check the condition!.
I know what others have said and are likely to comment on this post but what have you got to loose in not giving this a try, if you have not got the packaging then forget it!0 -

Only thing here is that if they want to be picky and the TV has the option (I know samsungs do) they could go to the service menu and it will give a total "UP" time showing how many hours the TV has been turned on.
Chances of that might be small but could well be an option0
