How Do I Take A TV Back To Currys For A Refund When Theres Nothing Wrong With It

Options
On 27th Feb I bought A Sony Bravia 32" TV From Currys. It cost approx £500. Now Costco are doing the same TV but in 40" with a 3 year guarantee for £200 more which seems a better buy. What reason do I give to Currys for returning my TV. Its been out the box and plugged in so I cant use the 'Ive changed my mind excuse' and dont want the option of having another TV. I just want a full refund. Can anyone advise please. thanks

You don't have the "right" to take it back especially if you have used it, maybe do the price checking in advance of buying something next time?

Did you buy it by mail order or directly from the shop. If the former, I think you may have 7 days under "Distance selling" rules. Can anyone confirm that?

If the latter, you probably don't have any case, if you want to keep things honest!

(BTW, IMVHO, a 40" TV is toooo big unless your room is huge. OK, just my opinion...)

nearlyrich: I spent a week doing a lot of price checking and shopping around before settling on the one at Currys last week - I don't just chuck my hard earned cash away :)

Costco only posted this offer today which starts next week as they are chopping £80 off the price. Its not just the 40" thing but the 3 year warranty that Costco do that attracted me.

Currys are the WORST retailer when it comes to customer services at the best of time - I remember when bought a TV from them, it broke down after 2 days - the hassel I had in getting a legitamate refund.

    Havent shopped their since

Fair enough but whenever you buy something there is a chance of it being cheaper next week, it might be worth checking if Curry's have a money back if you see it cheaper offer but they might not accept it as you are looking at a different TV in a discount club store rather than another retail store.

You cannot take it back. Why would you think you could?

Have you checked the costco one has VAT in the price?

Why is it a legitimate refund? They only have to repair or replace it:confused:

I don't think you can - if it was faulty then yes, but it isn't, sorry I think you are going to struggle.

What I dislike about Currys is that their store prices are high. When I wanted a new TV they quoted me £850. Online it was as cheap as £570 and their own website quoted £670.

In the end I went for a better model from Dixons at £843 and paid using a new 4% cashback credit card. It's a 37 inch model and looked huge at first but I'm used to it now.
