To the OP, it seems like just bad luck. It happens to all of us, it happens to me a lot! I think you just have to accept the status quo, that you made a decision at the time on the best info you had and just chalk it up that way.

The other point I want to make is that I don't want the other posters here to think that Dixons/Currys/PCWorld don't shaft their customers when they can. I bought a Sony TV off Dixons for £500 which they had pricematched for me. Now a few years later the TV broken down. Upon taking it to a repair shop, I was told that the TV that I had been sold as new was a refurb and had been repaired before. They had sold me a returned TV which they fixed as new. To those peopel saying Currys will make a loss etc..don't think that these retailers play by the rules, they didn't with me. When I wrote to them they denied they would do such a thing!

I went in a few weeks ago to look at some fridges and asked them to price match empire direct. I got told "we don't price match empire, they sell refurbs". I told they advisor of my previous experience with Dixons and he went bright red. I think it probably still happens so always thoroughly check any items that you buy from the DSG

I don't disagree that sometimes shops can shaft customers, but had you thought maybe the shop didn't even know - the manufacteur may of fixed it as it was a previously returned item, sealed it up as new, and it ended up in a delivery drop to the Currys you bought it from? :)

I have frequently heard that DSG give our refurbs especially to customers who ask for a price match, serach these forums, I am sure someone else has posted this, think it was a staff member at DSG! With my TV, they said they did not have any in stock and that they would get "hold of one" for me. They probably did have them in stock, but they did not want to give me a new one so got hold of a refurb/repaired probably from another store
