I suppose you could say it's just too big for your room and even that it's too bright it's causing headaches (!), and you want to invoke the returns policy. There is nothing fraudulent about that, and a decent store manager will take it back.

After all when people buy things as gifts for others they often check it can be returned if they don't like it etc, and as long as it's in original condition (boxed) and with the receipt I can't see a problem.

However there will always be a better deal around the corner. New technology is released all the time, making recent purchases obsolete, so was it right for what you wanted at the time? If you hadn't seen this new offer would you feel like you'd got a good TV? If so, I think I'd leave things be!

I'm struggling to see the o/ps point. They had a budget and size in mind when they bought the original TV, so why has their budget and size requirements changed so drastically?

You could have always bought a bigger better TV for £200 more, so i'm not understanding why this is a must do, simply because a better offer is out there.

You should have the right to return it if faulty. If I were you, and i've done this before with other retailers, say it just turns itself off at random after being on for a few hours. Say you want a full refund and do not want a replacement because you do not trust the brand any more. They can't possibly test it for an extended period of time to see if you are kosher, and you don't have to take a replacement if you don't want to.

Tell me which branch of Game you work for, I've got a game I don't like, but I'll bring it back to you and say it keeps crashing. OK?
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

Lookin at their website currys now have the 40" tv your refering to at £649, they're more likely to allow you to change it if your purchasing another model from them and giving them more money. Save yourself another £50 and forget the extra cover, which will no doubt mirror your rights under the Sale of Goods Act anywhoo.

If a customer is nice to me and doesn't treat me like something they stepped in, i'll help them out. Crashing is a valid reason for returning a game and there's no way to check it. We'd try and give a replacement but all consumers have the right to refund or credit instead.

Surely if it's been opened, you wouldn't swap it / refund, after all anyone could just buy games, open, copy and return them?

Our hands are tied. At the end of the day, it's your right, and we can't test them.

Edit: But we will remember people who are doing it frequently, and no-one is that unlucky that every brand new sealed game they buy is faulty.

Wish I had morals as good as yours.

Morality doesn't come into it. I thought this was a Money Saving website. My method saves this poor soul hundreds of pounds!

doesn't save them anything as it's money they are and were going to spend anyway - infact keeping the tv is moneysaving as it's cheaper than the larger one they want to replace it with.
