Tesco or other supermarket fuel ruining engines was no rumour in East London and Essex, there where loads of cars damaged by poor Supermarket fuel a few years ago.
I don't use Tesco or any other Supermarket fuel unless I really have to, esepcially as it is no cheaper than my local Esso.
Would you pay the same for Tesco Cornflakes as you do for Kelloggs, no I wouldn't either.
Each to his own, I know plenty of people that think Lidl Cola tastes as good as Pepsi, I beg to differ, and would rather pay the extra for quality.
The fact the my Mondeo runs rough on supermarket fuel is just another reason why i won't use it.
As far as knowing why my Mondeo runs rough on all supermarket fuel that I have used I don't know, but it does and I won't use it. The caveat with this is that I have only use 1xMorrisons, 2xAsda and 2xTesco.
Unless it is 10p per litre cheaper I will stick to Esso/BP/Shell for now.0 -

Who, rattled you cage, What does CarGiant have to do with this thread.
You need to get a life.
Why not try and post in a constructive way for once.
You are nothing but a bore.
And not particularly interesting:rotfl:0 -

It has happened to "branded" companies as well.I don't use Tesco or any other Supermarket fuel unless I really have to, esepcially as it is no cheaper than my local Esso.

And here is the problem, there is nothing wrong with supermarket fuels it all meets a British Standard, its all hype and bad science that suckers people into thinking its inferior. In fact it all comes from the same refineries from the same production process. If you are trying to tell me that a few synthetic additives make that much difference they you are quite deluded. The fact the my Mondeo runs rough on supermarket fuel is just another reason why i won't use it.

I know the reason, its your immagination. There is no way in hell that the fuels differ so much that your car wont run right on it.0 -

My point exactly, that was in Feb 2007. Both trading standards and the media picked up on this and it made headline news at the time. However that was 5 years ago and since then zilch, nada, nothing.
Except of course in on-line forums like this.:)

So they water it down with silicone?
Now I work with silicones and I can happily say that most silicone feedstocks are around 80p a kilo.......but they'd be pretty useless for adding to fuel. Working on the principle that you'd have to mess around with it to make it anything useful you're looking at £1 a kilo at least.
That's considerable more expensive than the cost of the thing that it would be diluting (fuel without the duty). So how does that work?0 -
i use bp all the time, i get less miles using supermarket fuel.House Deposit Savings = £3220:T

Whats the matter, somebody else not agree with you.
Ever thought that he may have tried the others, got crap fuel consumption and now uses a product that he knows to be decent quality.
Why don't you stop being such an idiot, your childish attempts to act "clever" are really not working, all they do is prevent the forum from working correctly.
Now, come on, when did you last post in a constructive manner on this forum?
Other than to thank and agree with your mates.0 -

Wrong, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons will comply with the minimum standard.
I think you will find that other companies actually supply a product that is better than the legal minimum standard that they need to allow them to sell it.
Or are you suggesting that a 5w30 engine oil made by Halfords or Tesco is exactly the same as a 5w30 oil made by Mobil?
They both have the same A1B1 specs but they will not be the same.
If you think this then why can you get so many different kinds of oil, in fact Ford stock 2 oils for my Mondeo, a cheap one and a dear one.
Obviously according to you it is just the same oil in different containers.
I shall continue to use BP and Esso etc, I don't really care if anybody on this forum thinks they are all the same or not, and I am not going to send a sample off for analysis either.
My car runs better on non supermarket fuel, I don't really care why if i'm honest, I also don't care if you believe me or not.
Though it isn't a coincidence that the Met Police and LAS both use BP, and have done so for years.
Put it like this, if you said you can't tell the difference between Lidl Coke and Pepsi I would have to say that is your position, but I can tell the difference. And my choice would be Pepsi.
I am confused though, why don't BP etc just get Tesco to supply their fuel? If it is all the same that is.
This thread will turn into an argument soon.0 -
i dont know the technology side of this mixtures etc.. i just know that i get lowsy mileage when i fill at tesco compared to esso- why who knows.Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the world together."

I have mainly used Tesco fuel for the last 5 years and have found it no different to when I have used fuel from the local BP, Shell, Total or Texaco fuels.
The car runs the same and gives the same consumption.0
