Hi all,
Has anybody heard of City Credit Management Ltd (CCM)?
I have been looking to get a loan and this company has sent me an application pack but is asking for £5.00 administration fee to be paid by cheque or postal order. I have rang the number on the letter to ask why you have to pay, but they changed the subject, also they can't tell me how long the company has been in business as they are not allowed to give this info out, won't give out any other telephone number but was willing to give out the postal address until I started asking questions about the company. The only info I got was this company is based in Leicester.
I also mentioned to the advisor I was going to ring trading standards and get them to do a check on the company, I was told I would have to hold and she would try and get some answers for me. No doubt you can guess what happened, I was cut off.
Has anybody else had any dealing with this company???
Thanks in anticipation
Karen

It seriously doesn't sound too good Karen. Not sure, but I think you can research the company via Company House??Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Surely the way you were treated on the phone must be a clear warning to stay well away.0

after dealing with ccm i have experienced issues i would like help to resolve.
My younger brother applied for a loan and recieved a letter saying he had the loan but needed to send £45 for admin fees. unfortunately he went ahead and sent the postal orders!
when he eventually told me he was having difficulty getting hold of them, i did a search and found this message. i am now very worried, obviously, and am unsure on what to do now!
is there a typical line to follow with these types of issues?
who should i contact?
will he get his money back?
they are registered with trading standards as a small business, but 2 months later he still has heard nothing and cannot get through the apparent queue on the teleephone!
thanks0 -
They arent registered with the FSA which would be a massive warning sign (depending on exactly what they are claiming to be)

I too have just been called by this company.. They initially asked for my son, but when I said he didn't live here they saids they were calling every household in the UK because they were promoting something for the government.
The Indian man that called who barely spoke English never mind understand what I was saying.
he told me that when he had taken all my details about my unsecured debts (Of which I have none anyway) A verification Officer would call me back and give me more details... I sent him packing with a flea in his ear after telling him I am registered with the phone preference service and he should not have my been cold calling my number I told him that they could be fined but he didn't seem bothered just kept going on that they had to call every household in the UK He barely understood how serious I was about calling trading standards. (and I have just emailed them details) Then decided to look them up on the net and this thread came up.
Will re post if I hear back from TS.0 -
A man with a strong Indian-sounding accent telephoned my home at 1.59pm today (10th December 2007), initially asking to speak to one of my sons, by name. I can remember that one of my sons had once tried to borrow some money (unsuccessfully).
I was very careful about how I responded. I asked who was calling. This guy said he was from City Credit Management. I asked him what City he was ringing from. He told me 'Leicester'.
I told him my son did not live here anymore. He then told me it didn't matter and that he wanted to talk to me about some sort of 'Government Legislation Programme', which was something to do with reducing loans/interest/tax. I didn't believe a word of it.
I told him I wasn't interested in anything he had to say. He then said he wasn't trying to sell me anything (ye, right). I got fed up with telling him I wasn't interested, so I said 'no thanks' and put the phone down. I immediately pressed 1471 - and surprise surprise...I managed to get the telephone number (0121 2733761). Hope this helps.0
