By alternative medicine, I mean, homoeopathy. That's probably the best place to start. It can't hurt right? Do you take anti-depressants? They might help stabilise your mood so things don't seem so bad. Are they asking you to lose weight so they can put you on the pill?
Sorry gem, no never tryed but I may look into it. No dont take anti depressants because I havent been to a doc for them but I have taken st johns wort for a month ish and there is no change. They wont put me on the pill because I am too over weight (so 3 out of the 4 doctors in my practice said) however I know some who was 18st and on the pill so I know for a fact that is all lies. They want me to lose approx 5st so that would take me to 11st before they will help me. Well I must have been about 15 last time I was 11st. So far I have lost 2st and went back and they said lose more, that was the last time I saw a doc about this condition (6 months ago).0 -
PaP - Thank You for your honest, and open, reply. It is exactly that which makes you one of the most popular posters on the forum - I saw one of your posts, the other day, where you said you would happily 'give someone your last £1' if their need was greater than yours.
You have been coping with your own problem for so long, yet you always find the time for other people.
Maybe you should start 'banging the table' at your surgery and asking what help is available on, or through, the NHS. Being 'overweight' (as with smoking) seems to be the currently 'acceptable' excuse to deny additional help, but I agree with fac - these 'excuses' appear to be too 'convenient' and I am tempted to believe that, often, it is 'budgetary factors' that are the underlying reason that many people are not referred for specialist help.
I am, however, pleased to see that your work colleagues have been informed, diplomatically I trust, of your situation - hopefully they will, now, begin to understand how you are affected.

Pap, reading these last few post from you has made me cry - and feel guilty for not having the same symptoms as you
I think its absolutely terrible that you have been given so little support by your GP practice.
I am 'lucky' that my excess hair is where it can be hidden, so I can only imagine what it must be like for you.... I really don't know what to suggest hun, I am lost for words

Have you tried a GUM clinic or family planning? They might be able to issue you the pill as long as you're making steps to lose the weight. It does seem an odd reason not to issue it as the benefits outweigh the risks surely.
SJW isn't the best thing to take. I didn't like the idea of anti-d's either but then the doc said to me; if you had a heart problem, you'd take the medicine to fix it wouldn't you? Well this is medicine for your brain. Made a lot of sense.
I'd definitely look into finding a homoeopathic practitioner too, it's amazing the things they can help with.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Oh Pap :grouphug: I hope that one day you might be ready to fight this battle and get the treatment that you deserve. I wish I could give you a proper hug though.0

Rog ~ Thats the person I am though, I love helping others. I will fight this and ultimaetly the doctors but i need to sort my confidence out first. I will do it in my own time. We still see the true 'PaP' and are happy to accept you for what you are - not what you look like. See this is why I love this forum, shame other people cant see why I spend so much time on my pc, but hey thats there problem not mine.
sarah ~ Sorry I didnt want to make anyone feel like that, I have just been ranting about how I feel. None of which I can do in the 'real world'
Gem ~ thanks I will take your comments on board. I guess its making those first steps, something I am not too good at but I will do them slowly, when I am ready.
fac ~ Thanks0 -
Thought I would update you on this parcel fiasco.
Right we had a card because a online company (small company) had apparently not payed enough postage. Now the item was a recorded signed for so it had to go through the post office there was no other way. Now there it would have been weighed and priced and sent. Only when it arrived to me no postage sticker was on the parcel so I had to pay the postage £3.09 + £1 fee. Now get this I was out anyways so the said parcel would have been taken back to the sorting office and a card left anyways the the fee is pants imo as all I am paying for is a sliver card not a red one. But thats another arguement. So got in touch with the shop and she is emailing me the orange stamped slip and the reciepit to get a refund. She hasnt offered to refund me and her do it.
Now how do I get a refund? Do I take all the copyed documents to the sorting office/write a letter/email? The problem is when you email there is no such topic as ~ give me my money back. So any ideas, I am seething £4.07 for a parcel I have already payed £3.50 for! I could have driven to her and got it cheaper :rolleyes:0 -

Have you already collected the parcel yet, PaP?
I would suggest that, in the first instance, you take the copies of the documents with you, when you go to the Sorting Office. As far as I can see, you are quite right - if the parcel was sent 'signed for' it would have had to have been weighed in front of the sender, and should not have been allowed 'into the system' with insufficient paid postage.
You should, also, find information on how to complain on the Royal Mail website.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

Yes I got the parcel rog I picked it up this morning. I wish I never now and let it get returned to the sender. I have a phone number for royal mail so I will prob ring them monday I am so tempted to take the empty box and all the docs to royal mail sorting office and kick off though. I cant believe they think that they can ask for extra postage when its a signed for item... the price sticker is prob stuck to one of there machines somewhere  £8.57 to get a pizza box weighing nothing delivered!!0 -

It is a pain, PaP, and I hope you get your money back. I remember, myself, having got one of those 'cards' through the door, and I went to the Sorting Office, with the intention of telling them to 'return it to sender'. Unfortunately, in my case, it was a letter from the 'Fixed Penalty Office in Belfast' :mad:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser.
