Hello everyone! please could you put me down for £300 for food shopping this month, running from 29th Feb to 28th March? I have tried to start this challenge so many times and have never managed past 2 weeks!Hopefully I'll cope this month as would like to spend less on food and stop going to the shop so much.Am going to stop shopping weekly and try and only do 2 big shops, have loads of meat at the minute as the local butcher had an offer on!
Good luck to all!!!:TSept. grocery challenge = £500 (221.60 so far!;))0 -

Help:
Does anyone know how to do the potatoes in batter that you find on the pre-packed shelves in Sainsburys. They are very thin slices of potato covered in a sort of batter. You put them in the oven and they crisp up.
I have tried and can't come anywhere near the shop bought ones and we really do love them in this house but I can't justify their cost anymore

Hi Mumofjust2
Everyone is different..in mine i count all food, cleaning stuff and toiletries... and its never to late to join in
Well folks hubby got back from work and announced he is off on exercise on sunday -for the week...soooo on the plus side..at least my groceries will last longer :rotfl: ..i will miss him of course..but every cloud and all that
Now, who mentioned earlier that their OH was moaning at the lack of meat? I know i read it..and now its vanished...
Anyhow... we have meat most meals..but smaller amountsthe thing i do is with chicken and pork..I make HM stuffing... much more tasty n filling than dried.... I just:-
- chop an onion and drop it in a pan with some water and cook for a few mins
- then drop in a thick piece of HM bread just torn into chunks,(if you like it smoother you can always blitz the bread)
- some dried sage(or whatever herbs you like)
- and the best bit just break up 1 skinless sausage broken up and bash that in,
- you may need a bit more water -you want it quite sloppy(well we do) -then pour into a non stick oven proof tin and bake until nice n crispy
Its great poured over diced pork etc, or tonight i had some roast pork so i cut it up put it in the bottom of the dish and poured the stuffing over and baked it .. you might get away with less meat that way...hope it helps
This is hm stuffing again made with sausage meat.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Bit of a :T ....we had a rather scrummy sheep pie SIZE=1]or cottage pie as me muvva insists on calling it[/SIZE
Cottage pie is made with beef and shepherds pie is made with lamb - or so I've always been lead to believe, but I am easily lead :rotfl:

I am going ok this month havent had time to come on here as much as I like lately work really busy and fighting for PC in the evening with DD15 and DS21 is a nightmare! going to add all my receipts up so far later and update, I think the greatest help with me is menu planning, started my diet yesterday again so that will cut of a few pounds each week money not weight yet! of all the choc bars and crisps I used to get through, Mrs M you are great inspiration to me and I am going to try to follow you way of eating not dieting it certainly makes sense your weight loss is remarkable in such a short time span!
Spag bol for tea tonight will make enough and freeze two extra portions
good luck everyonexxMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

Hullo, I'm back again this month with a budget of £100 for two large and hungry adults. This does not currently include lunches but I will be trying to squeeze lunches for me out of it by making them at home. It also doesn't include non-groceries like washing up liquid and laundry stuff. There is a separate £15 budget for that. Will keep track of it as well.
Really need to save some of the budget this month since we overspent on holiday. It was a lovely holiday though.
Am planning to make a supplies list today and then a monthly plan so I can get this month's stuff in tomorrow.
