I go to Aldi all the time, but have noticed in the past few weeks several items going up by around 30p.Has anyone else noticed this?It is still brilliant and cheap but not as cheap as it was:o

I noticed this last week in Lidl, when I went to get a couple of bits and bobs for my dad
But it is still cheaper than Tesco's too.

Not really been able to keep up with the thread this time round, as I have got a lot on this month :(

But I do not seem to be spending so much ... which is good news. :D

    Gosh so many pages already.
I lost the plot on the challenge last month with moving. But want to be counted back in for March. If its not too late.?

Bit of a :T ....we had a rather scrummy sheep pie SIZE=1]or cottage pie as me muvva insists on calling it[/SIZEusing a couple of spoonfuls of cooked lentils & split peas to up the beef mince. And cuz of a late change-of-plan re: taking ma shopping, I bunged all the veg--including a rather sad looking cabbage--into the mix too, so all the offspring had to do was put it in the oven & we had a good hot meal by 6pm.:p

    From these ingredients
    800g value mince
400g pack of value pork rashers/slices
7oz [dry weight]ea of red lentils & yellow split peas
    fresh breadcrumbs
    3 eggs
    1 med onion
    approx 350g swede
    approx 500g carrots
    3 lg garlic cloves

& the use of my amazing ancient food processor, I have made
    2 days meals for iggy
3 meals for pup...same as ours but minus the onion
last night's sheep pie, with addition of mash & cabbage
2 'blocks' of a version of MrsMc sausage recipe, to make into either sausage patties &/or meatballs...I was going to make them up yesterday, but as I said muvva intervened[sp!] so I'll just thaw out a block & decide what to do with it then:p

Thanks FFM re: Amazon...I'll go have another look-see, but I'm also pondering the MrT one that Cabbage is using..very nearly succumbed to that one last week, but with all the positive reports on the panasonic, I wondered if anything else would be false economy:confused:

Glamorgan sausages sound a bit nom-nom;) Recipe please SFT?

Our trip to Asda was not as bad as previous....I really did only buy what I needed:j , but it happened to inc £30 for a new telephone & some more prezzies for No3
offspring's b'day later this month...oh & a huge bone thingie for pup. I'll not inc the phone but will the tenner for the jeans & T-shirt as they were in the sale, & my spare GC dosh is for gifts....IYSWIM....so £26:49.

  • Just over £40 already on one meal!!!!Hubby and the kids wanted to treat me for mothers day but I would not go out to a restaurant, too expensive. So they had the restaurant deliver. We had a lovely Italian meal and desserts. We also had fun afterwards with the brown paper carry bags the food containers were in,now that is frugal. We drew a happy face on one side and a sad face on the other and I danced about like Monika in friends did when she put the chicken on her head.Guess you had to be there.
We wouldnt have been able to do that in a posh restaurant.

  • morning all, wow so many pages since yesterday......

Not around much today but going to give the bread rolls a try later not made bread for years so that should be interesting.. also known as BREADCAKES around here!

Also agree with candygirl Aldi has gotten more expensive in the last couple of weeks. I tend to get the same items each time I shop there and quite a few have gone up between 10p and 35p in my case. specially like their lasagne , I know I should be doing it myself but they are yummy and I will get there eventually... i hope. lasagne was £2.19 for months, at the weekend it was £2.39. (feeds 2 but can stretch to 3 with salad and garlic bread.).

hoping not to spend much today, not going shopping but you never know when temptation may strike. Better move my butt and get earning my living, have a good day all.
Oh forget , anyone got a good basic recipe for quiche ? used to buy loads for weekends and pack up so could make a good saving there. bye

getting-sorted sarah - can you point me in the direction of the hobnobs recipe - sounds as if I may try it providing I have all the ingredients in my ever dwindling stock cupboard.

Mrs Mc - your stuffing recipe is a winner, and yes I did add seasoning, went down a treat last night and made the chicken stretch so I have enough left over for chicken/ham/mushroom puff tonight.

Well folks i went out for a wander..needing fresh air and exercise again..and thought i may as walk to the big supermarket.... I didn't NEED anything..but hey ho...and you sometimes get some brilliant "whoopsies".... so i picked up
4 Fresh WW salami pizzas.... they are so much nicer than the ones in the UK  and hubby likes pizza occasionally as a weekend snack -or when he is trying to let me have a night off :rotfl: and they were down to €1 each :j and 3 pouches of fresh organic arrabatia sauce..again i normally make my own -but hey wer 10c each  ..so it would have been rude to refuse :p ... so i spent a grant total of €4.30... and they are all now safely tooked in the freezer -although i did have to take the pizzas out of the boxes to fit them in :o

must update my signature.... keep up the good work everyone:D

  • Morning all, gosh this thread has grown so fast, will take me ages to catch up with you all :)

I spent another £27 at Asda on Fri, this was food though whereas the £16 at Tescos on Thurs was toiletries/cleaning things for the rest of the month (and beyond!) so am on target at the moment, spent £43 out of a £50ish weekly budget (£200 a month). So the odd few £'s will be for bread/milk top-ups before i do my next shop on Friday.

OH is away again so me and DD tend to eat the individual portions of things i've frozen or simple meals like jacket spuds, beans and cheese/pasta bake/HM soup and bread. Its saving money because it means i only have to plan meals for 4 days out of 7, the other 3 days me and DD just eat whatever we have in. As long as we sit down to eat together it doesn't matter if we're eating different things :)

So my total so far is £43 out of £200 :)

    Good luck to all

    Hiya Mark,

PPS What was that programme with Patrick McGoohan bellowing "I am not a number! I am a free man!?"
I think it was called "The Island" but I could be wrong. Saw every episode. If anyone knows what it was about please PM me :D.

Just seen your post Bobbykins - I think you're right, yes, it was "The Prisoner", but although it was intriuging (budder, can't spell intrigue) I preferred Patrick in "Dangerman".
