Well, if someone - anyone - at Travelodge would care to contact me, then I could sort out about rooms! It's showing £10 rooms for 26/11 until you try to book them and then they are only available as part of a longer stay. I have emailed twice and left 2 phone message (0870 - as there are no other numbers Grrrrrrr) as well as speaking to totally unhelpful person at another lodge and listening to the phone ring as well..........

Are we destined to go camping nest spring? :D

Does anyone know of cheap AVAILABLE accommodation at a reasonably central location anywhere? :)

Onwards and upwards, as they say......

oops, being turfed off here by 3yo - must ring the lodge directly again.....

OK folks, still on the trail of somewhere to stay. Travelodge still haven't graced me with any sort of communication and I refuse to ring an 0870 number any more

I'm looking into youth hostels - I did try last night anyway, but couldn't find anything with rooms for 1 night - that appears to be our problem. Still hunting though :)

My next question is this: What is your limit on the amount you are willing to pay PER PERSON for the accommodation?

I went into a travel agents today and enquired - she showed me a hotel but I can't make group booking enquiries until Monday. It's a fairly central Manchester hotel with rates from £24 pp/pn. (Haven't got the brochure to hand so can't elaborate) Don't know what the rate will be for a saturday night, if they have enough rooms and if I can negotiate a group discount.

Will keep trying for cheaper though :D

Cost wise, I didnt think of a limit, just as cheap as possible!! Ill go with whatever everyone else thinks is ok, and Im up for sharing rooms if need be! (last time I stayed in a hotel room was for a skydiving AGM, and there were 13 of us in one room, passed out all over the place (very big drinkers are skydivers!) - I got in the bed though!)

I dont expect 13 of us to share a room to keep costs down however!!

I've just had another thought (careful, I don't have too many of them :D)

Cheap accommodation is the problem. every time I find any, there aren't enough rooms or we have to stay more than 1 night. Hows about we switch locations?

What about - BLACKPOOL? Still fairly central for those coming from the far flung reaches and there will be loads of fairly decent hotels with rooms, so the whole of MSE could turn up if they wanted :D The illuminations finish on 6/11 (but will still be up) so there is bound to be lots of capacity in the hotels.

EG I've found a medium sized family run hotel with rates from £20 and 4 course evening meal at £7.50, licensed too :D I'm sure if we can get enough people together we'll get a good rate at one of these types of places. There is a factory outlet village fairly near as well as the usual Blackpool things (most will probably be closed tho) and those travelling down the M6 could stop off on the way back in the Lakeland shop nr Manchester :)

I reckon we go for one of the November dates. Some of the ones who wanted the Mcr meet are away on hols for a couple of weeks, but at least we'll be able to find a room somewhere in a place like Blackpool (There's no conferences on are there?)

    OK, more replies please :D

I've done Blackpool before for a meet late in the year. Definitely space available for lots of people, and us menfolk propped up the bar while the wimmin went shopping. They loved it!

I've just rung a few hotels - got prices from £18 - £25 pp/pn, some with evening meal at £7. May even get a further discount on the £25 one if I speak to the manager :) Lots of availability, funnily enough.

This has got to be the way to go if we want to meet this year.
