A couple of extra things to add to todays to do list. Main one is to create and update the MS ledger (thanks to ukmonkey for that).

Hi Twinklie - just wanted to say that I am enjoying your thread. I've only recently started my MFW diary and am cruising other peoples' diaries for tips (hope no one minds me pinching their ideas!!).

One thing I've already decided, is to use more lists! However, I'm curious - what is the MS ledger?? It sounds like it's a tool to record expenditure?

It is...I stole it for UKmonkey. Its a tool to keep a track of all you mystery shops so you can have an idea what you owe the taxman. Its helped me no end! I would be lost without it. I think the link is on the first page of the MS X thread.

In terms of general household expenditure I use a cash flow chart that I got off here that I update daily. That includes all income and all expenditure from bills to diy to charity etc.

Glad some of my babble is useful to someone! Incidentally....pinch away and good luck - it gets very addictive!

Not having much luck when it comes to this assignment work due to builders across the road. I have no clue what on earth they are doing....digging through to china by the sound of it. But concentration levels are low!!!

I'm determined to get it finished today though so it's just the portfolio to be done then. Right going to empty the dishwasher and reheat left overs from my MS then I'll get on with it....hopefully the builders will be on lunch then!

EDIT: I'm on a roll! Don't know how good these assignments actually are...but then again...do I care!

I have a MS to do today so will be going to town but at the minute seem to be struggling with getting DH to get his bum back out of bed. He was up at 8 to get the soil pipe delivery...went back to bed and has not been seen since!! Most annoying.

I think I might do some work on my portfolio later as well since it's going to be hectic here tomorrow with OH and FIL DIYing.

Need to get OH to call up the mortgage people now as well because they've only up the dd by £68...Instead of the £120 we'd requested...it says as requested. Argh!!!! Why is nothing ever simple!

Right OH is 40 in December....any ideas what I can do for him. Not having a party given that most of his friends failed to turn up to the wedding (despite texting him in the morning that they were coming). And his family can be stressful!

I was thinking of taking him away for the weekend. Ideas would be welcome.

      Definitely no party then!

What does he like any particular hobbies / likes that could suggest a location? Or you could do a romantic weekend away and spoil him lots?

What about a city break somewhere? Is there somewhere he would like to go? Cottage/hotel somewhere meaningful to him or you both? What does he like/dislike? Would he like to go see a west-end show or an exhibition of his favourite XYZ?

You could hit one of the german Xmas markets or head to italy for a long weekend or you could go somewhere like Morocco! You can get there and back (eg Luton to Marrakech with Ryanair for ~£63 each in December), book a couple of nights in a Riad and enjoy! Atlas blue was another company that flies there (the budget version of Royal Air Maroc) and Easyjet too. It might not be overly warm that time of year and a bit damp but it has to be warmer than here! Food and activities are fairly cheap once there unless you go mad and buy half the goodies in the souk! :o  I loved it and want to go back! Marrakech and Meknes were both great. (Meknes is a beautiful smallish town that was formerly the capital (near Fez) and it also has lovely roman ruins at Volubilis nearby). I didn't like Fez so much but it was still worth a look in!
      Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Why don't you set yourself a challenge to get him away for a nice treat using the least amount of money possible, either getting good deals, mystery stays or earn the money doing overtime, mystery shops etc.
