Sad I know....I've marked all my yr 11 coursework (3 lots) and so now only have one piece left for the year. It's very exciting. I bloody hate marking coursework....drives me nuts.

Now a day of lesson planning...boo.

We were with Scottish Power until Sept 08 for several years (only left as the BG fixed offer to 2011 was good (then)) and always entered our own readings online each month. This way the DD was always close to the consumption (averaged over the year) and not subject to sudden uplifts etc.

If you have monitored your kWh consumption for electricity and gas then you can calculate what your annual spend is (or get a comparison site to do it!). Then you should be able to gauge what the monthly DD should be?

Meanwhile, I'll have a lovely time (!) once all suppliers have changed their tariffs trying to decide whether to leave the fixed (with the £100 exit fee) or not; i.e. trying to guess the movement in wholesale gas prices for next 2 1/2yrs....

Yeah, we do enter our readings monthly online. And we've used loads with OH being off sick and the freezing weather, so it's probably right. Also would rather it go up in peaks and drops because I don't want any of my money sat in their account (at the times I'd be in credit)!

Bah! As soon as this nasty weather clears up we'll reduce the bills!

We went to the mortgage folk for a general chat the other day about getting a bigger mortgage for the house swap. And they said it's not a problem at all, cos it would still only be a small mortgage. Yey.

So we have a proper meeting a week on Wednesday to get it all sorted out. So we are meeting with my parents this week to try and organise things from our side before we need external folks. It's very exciting.

We also found out that we won't need planning permission for the extension we want to build which I'm pretty pleased about. We have been recommended a good builder who will help project manage too and sort out all the sub contractors. So we are getting there with sorting bits out. But I wanna start seeing the transformation now...lol. I'm sooooo impatient!

Just need to get through till I get my pay rise (all being well) then I'll be happier about affording everything. Ha ha. Although since we aren't going on holiday this year and our holidays have been very expensive recently, we should have lots of extra pennies. FINGERS CROSSED!

Had a dream last night that I'd taken a week off work but not called in sick or contacted anyone. And that I was planning to go back on Monday. Was trying desperately to think of stuff I could say...an excuse to give. I was well confused when I woke up. I was actually really worried. Ha ha...bizzare.

The 6 nations starts today so it's back to not talking for me and the OH. I need to get as much work done in the mornings as I can so that I'm free to watch the rugby then. Too much work to do and not nearly enough time. DOH!

Have you confirmed this in writing with the Planning Authority? I think you may still require them to do some inspection during construction for building control purposes?

Excellent news all round otherwise, well done.

Yeah, we don't need planning permission but we still need to go through building regs. We will just have to sort out a timetable for inspections etc when the work begins!! Sooooo much easier than all the paperwork and waiting when you put in for planning permission.

Thanks StuartGMC, your like the little voice in my head that makes me double check everything. Almost like my conscience...ha ha.

Awwww, earthgirl...you'll get no sympathy from me! I'm worse than my husband when it comes to rugby. Although, tomorrow is a big day Wales (my team) v's Scotland (his team)! C'mon Wales....make it 2 in a row!!!

I have dreams like this whenever I'm stressed- particularly in the couple of nights before the start of a new term. I once had a dream that I took a diversion on the way to work, got lost, and only realised at 3.30pm that I'd been driving round all day and had missed school. Another time in my NQT year I dreamt chandeliers had been installed in my classroom, and some of the pupils were swinging on them in a lesson.:p
    Good Luck with the overpaying:T
