Thanks folks. No such calls needed. I've already had several msgs left on my phone letting me know everything is sorted and to rest up. Awww...I feel all loved.

Apparently some of the kids have gotten a bit upset about me being off, which is nice. Hoping for lots of sympathy come Monday. Still not feeling right but I'm feeling loads better than I did this time yesterday. I think thats the rest rather than the medication (since I doubt thats kicked in yet). But I'm reckoning I'll be fine to go back Monday!

Which is just as well cos I'm bored bored bored. Trying to stay away from school work but I've just realised I'll have to email the technician my equipment orders because with everything going crazy yesterday I forgot to do it before I left. Doh!

I'm so excited. It looks like my dad is going to agree to the house swap. AND it looks as though we may have found a breeder for the new addition we've been after. It's still early days, she has to check us out and we have to check her out. But it's the most promising yet. I'm so excited.

On a slightly darker note, I have the head observing me on Tuesday. Boo...I'm gutted. I hope the nerves don't make me ill again. Still, once thats done thats 3 obs down and only 3 to go. Then I'm (all being well) a proper fully fledged teacher.....none of this NQT business!

Ok so I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I'm just wanting it all over with. Ha ha

    Great news twinkle.

I know it's easy to say but try not to worry about the obs they're to help you not try to catch you out. Even the most experienced of teachers have a lesson that doesn't go to plan so don't worry about being perfect.

I'm sure you are but just make sure you have everything ready for the lesson then that's one less thing to worry about.

Yeah I know. I'm not nervous about it yet, I will be on the day though. It's just planning it. We have a really odd lesson proforma to fill in to and I find it pretty hard to get to grips with myself. Nevermind, it'll be fine.

Big deep breath and all that!

  • Hi, for extra money have you, and/or your other half, tried offering maths, English and/or whatever your specialism is to children after school. Would pay more than marking exam papers.

My son struggled with his reading and writing through school. Told he was not dyslexic, and schools were unable to really bottom out the problem. They gave him extra work, etc. but I struggled getting him to do it at home, it's easier to say no to mum and always seemed like a punishment.

So from being aged 7 he went just one hour a week to a very nice ex Head Teacher who, at his own pace, just helped him through. I think it was easier for him to focus outside the home. And he knew it was only for an hour.

His grade C English meant as much to me as his 4 As and 2 Bs.

But dont tell anyone at work what you are doing. This was a few years ago, but it does get political. If I mentioned it to a Teacher that he was having help, they would always tell me not to let it be known at school.

Just quietly advertise in local Post Office, News Agents, etc. windows.

Also, I know it's not a fortune, but even a regular babysitting job while you are studying could soon add up. Why not.

Good luck in your quest for a permanent job.

    Well done so far.

Thanks Susan, I think you've misinterpreted what I said a little. I am a fully employed permentant teacher in my NQT year. So I'm busy busy busy. I couldn't offer services of the type you suggested because I just don't have the time or brain power to devote to it.

As for babysitting, crumbs, I'd rather not. I do enough of that for the family, lol. No, I value my down time as sacred now! I need to be off when I'm not at work for my health and sanity. So any extra money making might have to wait a wee while.

I won't even mark exam papers this year, I just couldn't dream of giving up that amount of time to it.

All ready for the obs. Told the kids he was coming to observe them because they are top set yr 9 and with the SAT's no longer happening he wanted to see what we were doing with them! They weren't happy....lol.

The best bit about it is that the practical involves long leaky glass tubes and lots of water!!! Crumbs!
