It went ok. To be honest I still need to sort it out a bit more, so it makes a little more sense. But I've got something done at least. Finishing that off is about 3rd down the list of things still to do. At the end of the day, if time runs out I can wing it. lol.

I'm sure I make more work for myself sometimes. But I hate not being fully prepared. And I figure it will save me more work next year - things will just need adapting rather than inventing...lol.

Well, the shower cubicle thats in is still in the process of being removed....very slowly. Starting to fret that it's not going to be ready for Monday which could make school a NIGHTMARE!!

Anyway, moving on from that. Today started off well and has gone gone right down the pan. We met up with my parents to discuss "the house" plan. It's the first time we've had an opportunity to talk to my dad about it and he's considering it. :j

However, then he suggested we go round for a look at it. Brilliant we thought. Until we went in. The students that are ment to have left are still there. The house inside it TRASHED!! Now from a possibly moving in point of view it doesn't matter because we planned to gut it anyway and redo from scratch. But it's my old family home and its a respect issue.

It's also a health and safety hazard. It stank, was NOT taken care off and had rubbish everywhere. There was massive holes in all the internal doors, loads of paper missing off the walls. They have drawn all over everything including the bathroom suite.

And not to mention trashed and broken a unit they were asked never to touch that was in the house (it's what my grandad gave to my dad). My dad was gutted.

Anyway, turns out their contract has already ended and my dad was being nice letting them stay there a few extra days. However, these extra days have turned into more like 2 weeks and there is still no sign of em going. So we served them a notice this afternoon. I say them....there is only ment to be one person living there. They have until 9am Saturday to leave.

However, my OH did it in a very business like manner (they don't know who he is....just that he's working for my parents), all above board etc. But the lad said his flat won't be ready until Sunday. Sooooooo, my OH said he could store stuff in one room until Sunday but wouldn't have access after Saturday because the locks are to be changed. So if he wants his stuff Sunday will have to wait for a time that suits us to grant him access.

So at least hopefully by then we get rid of the little sh*t. Pardon my french.

Still, my dad has gone to bed for a few hours now to get over the shock of it all. I hope he's ok, he went really quiet and pale. I tell you, I've not been this mad for YEARS.

I've managed to get nothing done today and now my own work is piling up because I'm soooooo cross. Grrr....

How awful, did they pay a deposit when they took on the house that you can hold on to - to pay for some of the repairs. If so I'd take photos before you start tidying up.

Yeah they did. But my parents being THICK let them use it as their last months rent. SOOOOO, no. They don't even have anything over them. Very annoying.

Still just been to B&Q and looked at kitchens to cheer myself up. HOW SAD IS THAT!

Well todays had a better start....PAYDAY! And it's 9.45am and my OH has been banging around in the shower area for nearly an hour now. I'm very impressed. He's only doing it though cos he's scared his dad is gonna tell him off if he doesn't. Ha ha.

    Nevermind.

you're parents sound like really nice people - its a shame they got let down by the students

Fingers crossed the shower goes well, how bout you mention that without a working shower you find it impossible to cook and therefore there will be no meals for unproductive OH's! :p Its what I do with my OH to get things done :rotfl:

Its not sad - are you planning on redoing the kitchen then? I really want to find time to go to Ikea to get inspiration. and maybe a hotdog :D

Well if we stay here we are gonna have to relay the floor in the kitchen (the fridge freezer is dying and has leaked and warped it. And we need all new appliances, most of ours are pushing 10/15 years old (or more) and are dying a death.

However, we were looking at the kitchens with a view to doing up the one at my parents other house (the one with the student drama). I'm still hoping that they are gonna let us buy it of them. They defo aren't going to rent it out anymore and I love that house. We would give them the going rate including an exchange of our house which we could finish decorating to their taste and they could live here.

That would give them time to sort out their house and chuck out what they don't want and do it up. They could then either stay in our current house or sell that one as well and get the retirement bungalow that they want.

It's long winded and complicated but thats our hope anyway. Just waiting on dads decision before we can do anything. But we wanted to price up and check we could actually afford to take on the house before we agree anything with my folks. Mainly cos I don't wanna stich em up.

OH is still working well....v impressed.

  • Well things aren't dull in the twinklie household are they?!?! ;) Hope no one was under the kitchen ceiling when it fell down! It will all be worth it in the end...either you will have a lovely redecorated (including new ceiling!), or your parents will have a nice new place, without having to do anything. :T It sounds like they have had quite enough going on.

Don't stop though...I did that. Things were almost finished, I took a break of a couple of days, and now there are still a few annoying bits that aren't done. Very irritating!!!!
