Nope never had them! Not keen on chickpeas either. But I've no idea about other beans or pulses. Baked beans are as far as I've got! :rotfl:Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Sounds like my luck then with the SC not cooking my spuds. I have a large 'on' one from asda. Cooks everything else, and it almost cooks it - just you get the odd bit of raw in the middle of a cooked bit which is just wrong.
twinkle i advise to start by trying cans then rather than dry, as it can be a faff with some sorts to soak then cook. Lentils don't have to be soaked as courgette rightly points out, just rinsed. They might be the perfect way for you to get that shopping bill of yours reduced. Do you not eat kidney beans either then? Before i got into them i'd only done baked and kidney.
I even found a recipe for making your own baked beans on a thread on OS, and i did, and they were gorgeous, although not as easy and quick as tinned. Not any cheaper either.
Hehe. New challenge. Finding recipes for you to try in your SC.0 -
Just looked at your SOA - I spend £200 for 3 adults and a baby
You can definitely cut back on food if you want to. Each month a make a big batch of chilli or bolganese - you can use grated carrots to bulk it out (I used oats once but it was really stodgy!) _pale_
I think Meal Planning and only shopping weekly/monthly is the trick.
I've been a donut this week and had to go to ASDA eveyr day cos I keep forgetting stuff!
I only use my SC for Stew or casserole
I do plan to use it more when I go back to work but I'm a lazy !!!!!! so know it won't happen!
I don't blame you on the haircut! I have really thick hair which looks like a big bush unless I get it cut every 6-8 weeks - I was having it done by a friend for a tenner but having to go to salon now £35 :eek:A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
My problem with food isn't me. I batch cook because I have a freezer and just heat it up...although I admit I sometimes run out and am a bit naughty.
But DH doesn't have a freezer in his flat and only a small fridge. So he has to buy things on an almost daily basis. He also eats FAR too much. However, I'm on his case...we WILL reduce this bill!!!
Thanks for the help though ladies....I really appreciate it!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

How good was I today? First day back at work (at least 5 staff are off...stuck in a far of land) and did a normal day. THEN...I came home and prepped food for the slow cooker.
Put it on and went to the gym for my induction/review thingy! Then did a MASSIVE workout. I now realise how pathetic I've become...I'm so weak. Still I'm on the mend now and very excited about it. I did work my little booty off though.
So by going to the gym and climbing on Sunday I've already made my gym money back for this month!I'm going to the gym again but not till Friday because I have parents evening on Thursday and I don't think my little body would cope.
Anyway, I've walked in and checked on my beef and red wine stew and OMG...it looks and smells so good. I'm really struggling to leave it to cook...I want it now!!!! :mad:Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Already a slow cooker fan then after one use.
Sounds fab. What you cooking next?
Impressive excercising. Mine was more of the variety of chasing the kids around Tesco's to stop them picking up things i didn't want them too, then picking DS2 up. My own version of Cardio and weight lifting routine. Surprisingly it doesn't burn the fat. We've noticed one of the families is making their son jog round the block every evening to try and beat the bulge. Poor little thing. He must only be about 10. Perhaps i should join him.0 -
Awww. My nephew does that. He loves it. He has a punch bag thing and is obsessed with exercising!!
I've not actually had the stew yet...20 mins still to go!! Grrr...ok so it's going to be a late tea but theres nothing I could do...DH messed me up yesterday and again this morning with my normal timings. Cooked again tonight. Bolognese and 3 jacket spuds later I'm a happy bunny.
Work sucks though and I'm going to be coming in having spent more than I've earned this month which is grim...but it's mainly the cars fault. Grrr.
Just got 2 pieces of coursework to mark tonight and then check I'm all sorted for school tomorrow then I'm done. However, I'm HATING school right now. Feeling very unloved and unsupported at school.
Not by the department but rather SLT. I HATE my year 11's right now as well...they are the worst year group I've ever seen. Might are right little....well, lets just say I'm not fond.
