:hello: Hello to everyone.
Just had some tea and about to go to the health centre to get my scalded arm bandaged up.
Need to phone Aunt tonight after she has spoken to the consultant about uncle's condition, which does not look good.
Will get washing out on the line later and think of something to have for tea.
See you later

Good morning everyone! Had a great weekend away in Newcastle (another place that the Small Penguins have put on their list of "I'd like to go to university here"
). The play was fantastic, so if you get a chance, see it when it's on tour (it's on the KS3 curriculum at our school). Our hotel was fab, with a view of Ikea and DFS (who appear to have a sale on right now    ).
Planning to get out in the garden this afternoon. Making curry for tea and cleaning out the fridge this morning.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I've been swithering for ages about whether to post or not cause I've come over all shy. I've been so moved by your situation Smokey and you have been on my mind a lot and are in my prayers. My mum spent a month in ITU on a ventilator a couple of years ago and I vividly remember how terrifying it was for those of us who love her and how much the support of others meant. I know that doesn't compare with having your partner be in this situation though.
You guys on this forum strike me as such a lovely caring bunch, I would love to get to know you all better.0 -

Haribo Here it is. I used a 20cm springform tin for this cake, and baked for about 40 mins.It is quite a flat cake - doesn't rise much, but has a yummy caramel centre. It also is a dryish mixture for a cake. I thought I'd forgot to jot down the milk  so had to double check. The *dollop* bit is
. I rolled little balls of mixture in my hands & placed on top of the cake. There is no way I would describe it as dollops.:D. It The top is quite crispy when baked. .Almost more like a slice as you could cut into squares.
Caramel Cake
125g butter, 4oz sugar, 7 oz plain flour, 1 egg, 1 tbsp instant coffee, 1 tsp baking soda,
Caramel - 1/2 can condensed milk, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 60g butter, vanilla essence, 1tbsp golden syrup, 1 tbsp cornflour
Cake - Cream butter & sugar. Add egg & coffee. Add sifted flour & baking powder last. Grease and flour springform tin & spread half of mix in bottom. (Slice tin would work too)
Caramel- Melt all ingredients in saucepan stirring constantly. Cool.
Spread on top of cake mixture in tin. From remaining cake mixture, add dollops
on top of the caramel. Bake in mod oven 350F/180C for 40 mins. It really is yummy.
Kyle You can be so nasty to Twink sometimes.
Icecubequeen I remember you. Sorry to hear you've been made redundant but I'm sure with help from usyou'll be managing fine.

I have not been doing too much OS lately but feel I need another kick up the rear end to get me back motivated.
Had a good weekend OH and went out for dinner on saturday which was lovely, it made a change because he has been working 7 days a week just lately. I have had a headache everyday for a week now which is unlike me, I had my eyes tested and got new specs but still the bad heads, I have promised myself if I have another one today I will go to the GP. I think it's tension TBH I seem to have a lot on my plate at the mo but I don't feel under pressure but it must come out in some way I suppose
Need to nip to the post office to send mothers day cards one to OZ and one to spain.....must be our deodorant:D roast beef for dinner tonight as we had egg and chips last night.

Welcome to ishbel :hello: yes this is a lovely supportive gang here! Don't be shy everybody is friendly here. Mind you don't become obsessed with breadmakers and dishcloths though like the rest of us!:rotfl:
It is my ds's lovely gf's birthday today, he is so lucky (as are we) that she is in his life, I have been up early wrapping her pressies - been quite arty in fact (for me!) and used pink tissue paper, flowers, buttons and pretty wool! All stuff I had in the craft room so very os as well. Hope she likes them, we won't get to see her until the weekend so I've sent an e mail greeting for today.
I am still ferreting around the house for shabby chic but not sure if I have found any!:rotfl: I sure have found a lot of clutter though and am about to fill some charity bags and make some space.
well must go walk the puppy! have a lovely day
