The only thing I don't like about my panasonic 253 is the lack of a window in the top. I want to sit and stare at it while it makes dough!!

There's one on the Panasonic website under "kitchen and home" then "accessories" it's around £25 without the p&P

  • I bought an ancient Panasonic breadmaker at a car boot sale about 2 years ago for £4 and it has been in constant use since. Until yesterday when the mechanism which turns the paddle sheared off that is!

Now I want to buy a new one and I was already thinking about another Panasonic one due to the lovely bread my obsolete version made. Having read all your comments I am definitely going to stick to this brand despite the added expense.

Just one thing though - I have read the comments about the nut dispenser and I am a bit confused. My old one didn't have a nut dispenser, you just bunged everything in together be it nuts, fruit, sundried tomatoes etc. This always worked fine, even on a timed program. So I would ask again, is the nut dispenser really necessary?

I've only ever used the one with the nut dispenser ... so I can't really compare. We always make a 5 seeded loaf and so wouldn't be without ours. It's 6 am, and I'm sitting here waiting for the bleep from the BM to let me know to take the loaf out of the machine. The smell of fresh bread is wonderful :D

I am waiting for my panasonic BM with nut dispenser to arrive today. :j

Been making HM bread for a few weeks and all the family been enjoying it. Saved up my paypal money to pay for it, not cheap, but got it from amazon with free delivery.

The BM thread on here has been so helpful :T

Our Panasonic has the dispenser and we've used it once! However the option is there if needed! It makes a superb loaf and great dough. We've had it 2 years and would definitely buy another when this one runs out. Previously we had an LG breadmaker which we thought was good at the time but the Panasonic is far superior and uses less ingredients to make a bigger loaf!!

Thanks for resurrecting the thread, I bought my Panny for easter and used it loads but as I am getting new kitchen done I haven't used it for ages, can't wait to get started again.

Has anyone tried pizza dough and fruit cakes? I have only made basic white, and packet mixes (that's if you don't include the wholemeal brick that was my first attempt!)
