Sorry for bumping up an old post
Just wondered ifyou all have the sd252 or sd253?
The only difference I can find is the nut dispenser, is that it?
Thanks,

But don't forget that the dispenser can also be used for putting raisins into delicious fruited loaves at the right time, and the seeded bread (also using the dispenser) has been a revelation to me. Both can be programmed to do their stuff overnight and you can't do that if you have to put the raisins in yourself! I would go for the dispenser one myself, well I have done and I am not disappointed!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Oh yes! yes! yes!
Sorry, getting a bit carried away there - just had the first slice of the malted loaf with the sultanas in, warm, slathered in cold butter - mmmmmmmm!
I've only had my Panasonic just over a week and I think it has made about ten loaves already - one "normal" white/wholemeal one every day for the packed lunches, and several fruit/cheese/flavoured ones when I get a free slot to weigh out the ingredients. Not a dud one yet! I think the dispenser version is well worth the extra - it's great to be able to use the timer for breads with added sultanas/nuts/seeds without having to physically be there to add them (it just wouldn't happen - I'd miss the correct stage, I'm sure!).
Anyway, must stop talking with my mouth full..................[0 -

For those of you who want a 'fancy' machine, I notice the Russell Hobbs one is down from £99.99 to £59.99. This is basically the machine I've got (mine's called the Ultimate and is white) but IMO must be as good as the Panasonic - I've never had a bad loaf out of mine.
The Ultimate certainly make jam as well - don't know if this one does, but probably.0 -
I love my panasonic too. It's a 253 and the advantage is that i can make fruit loaves ready for getting up in the morning. Way better than toasted teacakes. I was worried about leaving an electrical appliance on overnight but got a circuit breaker on the plug and chilled out. I wouldn't go back now. It's wonderful.
My family refuse to eat shop bought bread so I've made a loaf every day since I got it.
I wouldn't be without it. It doesn't make jam though. But I'm saving jam jars to make some in the spring anyway. Will be looking in the index for tips next year!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

Just to add my two pennyworth - don't think of the raisin dispenser as something you would only use for sweet teabreads - it's fantastic for making granary type breads with seeds and also adding chopped sundried tomatoes , olives etc. I'm told (though I haven't tried it) that adding walnuts makes a bread that is to die for when served with blue cheese.
In fact if you like savoursy food I would almost say it is more important to have the dispenser. The only sweet type bread I make is Chelsea buns and there you do have to add the dried fruit after you take the dough out of the machineIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
