hi all i wanted the 255 but its out of stock on john lewis is there a major diff bewteen these two ? the 254 is only £79.95 and i think ive found a code for £10 off would this be a good buy or should i hold out for the 255 ??
Im new to the world of breadmaking as u can tell !! lol
carnt wait though0 -
The only differences that I know off are the 255 has an automatic friut and nut dispenser and has programmes for rye and gluten free bread and the 254 doesn't if these are not important go for the cheaper one as overall the bread will be no different

Hi it's only £69.98 on Amazon at the moment. I got the older model the sd253 from ebay that was new just it's the old model if that helps0

If you're buying online with John Lewis, check out Quidco - they offer a percentage cashback. (8% this time last year).
I've got the 255 and I think the only differences are the dispenser and rye bread programmes (could be wrong about the rye bread bit though)

anyone got this model my mum has jst told me i can have this if i want i was gonna buy the sd254 as i dont need the nut adder thingy but if this old one of my mums is ok ill save the pennys !!0

I don't know the model, I have the 254. But ... if it is Panasonic I am sure it will be OK. Give it a go and save those pennies. The nut dispenser is great and I use mine a lot but you can certainly manage without one.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0

Yes, the 1st loaf that worked I used the wholemeal bake as instructed in the recipe and it rose well. The next 2 I used the sandwich recipe and setting - both sunk on one side. This week decided to go back to the wholemeal bake recipe thinking it would work again but this was the worst loaf yet!
I am using lukewarm water not cold, 1tsp sugar and 1tsp salt.
It's driving me mad - can you tell?!
So it failed on the 5h programme?
Have you cleaned the blade hole so it moves about on the spindle? I find the mix is optimal for wholemeal if it's clean. Doesn't matter so on white.
Try immediate if you are using delay start.
If you have alredy tried different flour try susbtituting 100g of white into the mix to increase the gluten, and use warmer water.0
