sorry, I must have been looking at the wrong item/link ... I thought 2nd class post was £1.61 + whatever it cost = >£5

they tell me it's senior thing :o

It might be me with the senior moment thing - I didn't spot a cheaper post option. Just been back and still can't see one. http://www.herbsgardenshealth.com/index.htm

it was on the second link in the Motely Fool post http://www.ecofair.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Baking_Aids___Misc_2.html

they have the yeast for £3.13 & seem to offer 2nd class post for £1.65 = £4.78

update ... just been through the checkout to the point of (not) paying & they add 29p vat on to the postage  so the total is actually £5.07, still better than anywhere else I've seen on-line

if anyone wants it, maybe your local health food store would order it in?

    Where am I going wrong?
I love my breadmaker but I used to buy one of the ready to use 'bread making mixes' It turned out very well and I'm fine eating it warm and fresh but my OH has increadibly stomach pains if he eats it fresh so much so that I've now put it away in the cupboard. can anyone suggest a 'safe' recipe as I resent paying almost a pound for a loaf

My Mum swore that you must never eat fresh bread, but that it was safe to eat the day after baking. I have no idea why this was as I haven't had any problems (not with home made anyway) but perhaps if it is too fresh it does not agree with some people's digestion. Maybe its the texture. Mum used to describe some bread as chawly or chorly - I have no idea where the word came from. Has any one else heard of this?

Mrs Beeton reckons you shouldn't eat bread until it is several days old!

I remember my Gran saying that! said fresh bread would give you a sore stomach
& I remember her tearing the lovely soft inside out of rolls before buttering them if she thought they were 'too fresh'

    Hi There,

Ive been using my Panasonic SD 254 breadmaker for a few weeks now, and will never go back to shop bought bread.

Ive just been making basic bread, and want to try different breads, so, I was looking at the recipes I got with the breadmaker.

On some of the recipes, it says next to them (SD 255 only)!!! Does this mean some of the recipes can only be used for the SD 255 machine only:confused: .

Would be very grateful for some replies.

Is it bread flour? I ask because I was not aware they did Smartprice bread flour, they do Asda own label [blue bag] bread flour which I found OK but not used it for a while as I now use Lidl

If it is Asda could be they have been cost cutting & using inferior grade like Tesco have, maybe it even comes from same mill?

Yes-well spotted its not smartprice but just cheap.Have given up on it now

    I've been Money Tipped!
After reading this thread for weeks, yesterday I finally took the plunge and bought the SD 255, It arrived today and I have made a perfect loaf of basic white bread. I did the medium size with light crust.

It is just great! No more by hand for me now that's for sure.

My SD 255 only arrived today so not really a qualified person to answer but maybe the ones you are looking at in the recipe book are for Rye or seeds?

The SD 255 has 2 blades one for rye and one for normal.
