BHB, now I've read your post I feel really guilty cos I was meant to go to see the counsellor today at my local drug and alcohol centre but I cancelled. Various reasons, I feel like carp today, think I'm comig down with summat. Plus my friends mum has been taken into hospital with an anurysm (sp?) she had 2 last year and went through major surgery but this time she's too weak to operate on (she's 80 next month) so if it bursts shes a gonna :( Going up to see her today.

But the good thing about cancelling is that they've given me another appointment for a couple of weeks times with a different consellor there, he worked there when I used to go a couple of years ago and apparently he's really good, he always seemed really friendly. The one I was meant to see today I've not heard of (not that that's a bad thing) but she's female, and I don't relate so well to other women. So all in all not a bad decision I think.

Molly & SM well done :D

    Phil, welcome

Hi all,not had much chance to read this thread for a few days, but will catch up over the weekend. Well not done too bad this week. OH's Mum & Stepdad were over from Spain for the week & came round for tea last Tuesday, along with OH's Sister & her Husband. Had a couple of cans & OH drank wine & had a couple of cans too. She has been on nights since Wednesday so she hasn't drank since Tuesday & she is also working tonight. There were 2 cans left on Wednesday night & I was going to drink both but my mate came round,so I gave him one(a can I mean:rotfl: )! Could really have done with just one more beer but resisted temptation & didn't go to the shop for any more! Bought some bottles of Carlsberg from Sainsburys last night as they were on offer & had 4 last night(well they are smaller than cans;) ). Giving OH a lift to work later so will probably have 2 or 3 bottles tonight when I get home. Got £50 from the £20 a week we allow each other saved up so going to take OH for a drink & bite to eat with it tomorrow or Monday. Would rather have a meal than just go out together & get a takeaway on the way home as hopefully with us eating it will slow our drinking down alot so we don't get wasted! Hope everyone else is ok!

Just time to nip in and say 2 days off the grog now.

May have a little wine tnoight and then back off tomorrow.
    Will see how I go.
  • Howdedoody! :hello:

Feeling very positive today. feeling well too!
Just Back from the Support centre - they have just taken some samples of blood - now have an empty arm  . More sympathy please Jo.... ;). My poor armywarmy! :D

They are going to do some checks to see if I've done any permanent damage to my liver and other stuff that I didn't really take in. She said I was doing really well though, and I looked really well so she didn't think there was anything too drastically wrong.

Anyway from 2-4 cans of stella a night to nothing. Was told by the Doc that I had a drinking problem which put the frighteners on me, now 22 days without since my Docs appointment! Would recommend everyone see there Doc's or local support centre if they haven't been. It certainly kicked me up the bum!

Well done ltm07 for not going to get some more on Wednesday night :T

Well Done Amazon-spice for two days of abstinance. :T

Jo - Hope your friends mum is doing OK.

    Have a great evening everyone.

  • Just popping my head round the door to wish you all a very good weekend .............................. hope you spend it wisely......................... and safely. Go careful out there. :D

ISOM - Big hugs, well done on day 6. How do you feel ?
BHB and Jo - thanks for being just you and sharing your stories and thoughts.
Amazon, Singlemum Hope you're enjoying the loss of tiredness and returning energy levels. :j

I am back on day 1. Had 2-3rds of a bottle of wine on Wed and 1 bottle on Thursday.
Felt tired for the past 48 hours and very low - have sooooooooooooo noticed I don't think quite so logically or rationally after a drink - or is that just PMT  !! Have not been very prepared in work today as my head's a bit woolly - just thinking and doing as I go along - that raises my stress levels as I kept feeling there's something I haven't done. I wanted a drink tonight as I felt so tired and stressed - what a vicious circle it can so easily become. I managed to keep myself busy and now it's nearly bedtime and nearly day 2. Thank goodness !!

On a positive note have seriously cut down on my drinking as only have had a drink on 3 nights this month............................but would like to do the full 30 days
  • morning all

I have the hangover from hell, went out last night not intending to drink. Decided to have one glass of wine with my meal and that became 2,3,4,5!!!!!!!! large glasses of the red stuff  Why oh why can't I stop at one drink????
Anyway am paying the price now feel like s**t. Not going to leave the house today as loads of college work to do so definatly not going to drink!!! So back to day 1 again for me.

Enough of me how are you all doing?

Nearly there what a huge step in the right direction, think thats really positive looking at the bigger picture well done you :T

That hits the nail on the head when you've had a drink the night before!

I'm on day 1 again as well, OH went out, I had the remote control all to myself and I caved in, I always feel that having the remote is something to celebrate as it doesn't happen very often! I feel okay today though, only had a couple and have to make sure I'm strong this evening and not cave in again!

BHB, aww you got a sore arm :( did they make the mess of your arm like they did of mine when I had my blood test done a couple of weeks ago?

    arm.jpg

It actually got a lot worse than this the next day and swelled right up and I had to sit at A&E for a couple of hours cos doc reckoned it might clot. Apparently the plebotomist went into the vein then right out the other side  Luckily it's healing, still sore but yellow now _pale_

Nearly-there, I hope you managed your day 1 ok :)

    Ltm07, Basil & Amazon, hope you're having a good weekend :)

ISOM, congrats on 6 days, it's a week now :D:D

SM, oh god, I feel for you today :rotfl: I hope you get some work done :D

    Lurky, where are you?

    Leigh, how are you hun?

Sorry if I've missed anyone :o How are we this murky morning?
