  • Hi, thanks for your replies.

I just feel so desperate right now, with OH drinking, our huge debts, and various other probs and am scared as Iam so unhappy in so many different areas of my life.
And having no love or support at home really sucks when sometimes all you want is a cuddle and to be told, dont worry itll be ok, whether it will or not I dont know, but just to be told would be so securing.

I do try not to "go on " at him as I dont want to seem like a nagging old housewife and realise that sometimes people have to be left to realise and decide for themselves, but the years keep rolling by and the situation gets worse, not better. And I see our lifes drifting apart.

Sorry, Im rambling on a bit.

I get what you all mean about not feeling the hangover, I think hes like that, I dont drink at all as my parents used to drink heavily and row all the time so maybe I am so opposed to drink coz of that (I did used to in teens, lol).

Can I ask a cheeky question??

Ive read some of you say your on day number 1 again.
Does this mean you are trying to start afresh and stop drinking, but have not managed so far??

So if it does GOOD LUCK to the number oners, hehe.

Got to get ready now OH is still snoring away,
    thanks

Yes, this is where Im at, I know its got to stop, I want it to stop, but wanting to do it and sticking to it are two different things:rotfl:

Anyway I am on day two again (!!) now so each day is a step in the right direction:o

hi pinky - when i was drinking at home every night it really was force of habit. The craving would kick it at 7pm without fail and if i didnt have a drink i was constantly thinking about it. i think a big part of it for me is breaking the habit. easier said than done but could you suggest doing something else of an evening together ie going to the cinema, playing badminton or something?? Or if you have any decorating that needs doing, get out the paintbrushes, strong tea and choccie biccies. I know its easier said than done when you have to find a babysitter to go out but I found that once the cycle had been broken a couple of days, it was far easier to abstain.
At the end of the day thou,he'll only do it if he wants to , The serious threat of losing you and your son may give him a wakeup call and prompt him to seek the help he needs to stop.

hi everyone just found this thread and am going to join. i dont drink a lot really but it is creeping up and up, my mother who i haven't seen in 8 years is an alcoholic and i dont want the same thing to happen in my family. i drink when ive finished studying at night to unwind-or the work keeps going round and round in my head. i only have 1 maybe 2 glasses of wine everyother night but it could esily be more.
i have stuff left over from xmas-malibu etc which i know i wont drink-its just wine really. i have found myself looking at the clock thinking is 6pm too early for a drink?

afternoon all- whoops had a terrible weekend, -drinking wise-... couple of glasses on Friday after a row with OH- and then yesterday went to the rugby with a client- OH came too and drove- well, its hard to say no when its free isn't it ?? few glasses then came home and had a few more....
Apologised to OH this morning as soon as I woke up as I knew I would have been out of order in some way- and I was, very, but won't explain why as I'm too embarrassed. don't remember going to bed either.

anyway, think all the stresses of last week got to me- and I've been a horrible girlfriend all weekend. going to try and rectify the problem now somehow. xx
welcome to susie and pinkyloubell- will have a think about your situation and get back to you tomorrow. x

hugs basilcat - unfortunately, I've known too many times I've been bad, without even knowing what on earth i did...

I'm feeling a little put out - I've been off the booze for over a week now but still feeling hungover. Really tired and I don't know why. It's not time of the month issues - grr. Perhaps going back to work will rectify it!! :)
    Hope all are well.

Sea, I don't think you have had as much as a problem as me (), but when I stopped for 4 months I found it was around 30 days before I felt normal. It's the same as smoking, when you stop, your body kicks out all the toxins and is used to living on 'proper' stuff :rotfl:, so in short, this is normal and won't last. Excellent work though :D

Basil, oops, nevermind we've all done it, good luck for today.

ISOM, thanks I will try and remember that! :)

SM, good luck for today :)

Hello everyone and welcome to the newbies.
Havn't posted for a few days but try to keep up with the thread as best I can.

Yeay to me,TWO WEEKS alcohol free.

Still feeling tired and most mornings waking up with headache , but will persevere.

DH went away for a fishing weekend with DDs other half who proceeded to get totally drunk on first night and ruined the whole trip as he was so hungover and ill that he couldn't get out of bed all day. So No Fishing,DH not happy!!!!!!!!

I thought about how ill he must have felt and know I never want to feel like that again myself..Its good to be reminded sometimes.
It has made my resolve even stronger again.

Well done to all whether on Day one or more , just cutting down or even thinking about doing something.

    Keep up the good work.
    Love Mollypolly xxxx

Lots of hugs and support to everyone.

Here's how I've gone so far.

    Wednesday - nothing
    Thursday - nothing
Friday - meant to have 2 glasses of wine but drunk the bottle - doh.
Saturday - 2 of my measure gin and tonics!
    Sunday - nothing

Not world beating stuff but am giving self pat on back as I am breaking the something every day habit I had got into.
Hated my thick head on Saturday morning! Like my clear brain today much better.

    Have a good week.
