I've been very pleased with my progress! I've got the stage now where I can quite happily go for several nights in a row with no desire for beer. I do drink, but less frequently and try to keep it for special occasions. So this week I'm not drinking at all because I'm off for a few days later in the week.

The main thing is that I'm actually enjoying myself. I know I'll feel better in the mornings, but I now also enjoy my evenings without beer. It's rather like learning that you can still enjoy yourself without spending money.
    Happy chappy

Well done Basilcat .I would find it very hard to eat out in a hotel and not have wine.

Well done everyone.I am going to have tea and toast now.

What a lovely day ............................. been out for a walk with the dog first thing (usually unheard of) and put in a good mornings work ............................... finally feel that the PMT has passed. :j
Thank you for reading my story. It was driven by the want of a drink. I came on here and posted instead. I got a tad carried away and then found I didn't want a drink after all. I really enjoyed reading your replies as well - glad it raised a smile and prevented Mollypolly from imbibing. ;)
I'm already planning the next installment. As TomStickland is a grand old, upstanding name, he must of course play the sherriff. I see Jo in the role of the one armed bandit (in view of her recent infliction) and I think the outlaws could be involved in holding up a train that is carrying a load of gold bars (the chocolate variety). :rolleyes2

I miscalculated my days off the booze.....................I'm on day 5 today, not day 6 as I thought - but things going rather well nevertheless..................thanks to you guys :T

I'm on lunch break at the moment so had better go and eat something. Hope the sun is shining wherever you are and whatever you're doing. Toodle pip :cool2::cool2::cool2:
  • Hi there everyone, sorry not been around for a few days, I have good reason though! I need to make a small confession before I start, my 18 days of abstinence were aided by my 'condition' I was pregnant - I found out on 31st March (day after I got back from my hols) and so my plan to go 'cold turkey' was actually made a lot easier!

Unfortunately early last week I started bleeding slightly and had an early scan on Thursday, was told to come back this Friday for an update as they could not say what was happening - anyway to cut a long story short I bled a lot on Saturday (sorry if TMI) and think it is almost certain I have miscarried, I am going for another scan tomorrow to confirm. I am totally gutted and I have to say I fell off the wagon on Saturday night (5 cans of magners cider) and again on Sunday (bottle of white wine) mind you that is not as bad as I would have expected given my circumstances and track record :o

Sorry for waffling on anyway, I will need all your help to keep on track now, the urge for a drink is upon me as I speak:eek: I didnt have any yesterday so this is day 2 (again) for me

Hope everyone is ok, I will have a read through what I have missed later
