I wanted to bring this post by spring watch girl back up to the top, I think it's an amazing post and maybe a few newbies might like to think about it like I have for the last week or so.....
Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life.

How are you doing SWG, not seen you around for a while

  • Triggers for drink.Used to be work bl**dy work. Now its kids:eek:  . Hubby working lots of shifts:eek: Hubby when he's here cos he's had the stressful day at work (apparently everyday;)), thus he supplies the booze. Well meaning socialising friends, parties. Will stop now don't wont to out do Yellow monkey;) :rotfl:It's a case of finding some other routine I guess. Got toothpaste stuck to my hair, knew growing long hair was bad idea:D But shall wait to all kids in bed, intend to wash hair then get in the bath. That takes care of at least 3 hours:)

evening all...sorry to hear about the job leigh. Would it be worth seeking some counceling from your gp to look at self esteem issues etc? I suspect your boss could let you go but not sre in terms of proceedure that it was done well - depends on T&C that you worked in but usually you have to have verbal warning, then wrtten warning & some kind of action plan before you can be dismissed but having said that taking someone to tribunal is v. stressful. Maybe just learn from it & move on...
basil hope job interview goes well!

Evening everyone and welcome all I haven't said hello to yet:hello:

I had a few drinks over the weekend but am back on my own now so no more drinking- Winebox I think saying you won't drink alone and not having open bottles/boxes around really does help.Leigh I am really sorry about your situation - I don't get the gang bloke thing either but then I'm a girl....I can imagine though that you must feel really uncomfortable . Perhaps put it down to experience and start over?

Gonna have an early night ,

    Evening all,

Right now, I've been sat thinking tonight of what's going on in my life at the moment. I'm very lucky, got 3 beautiful kids (most of the time ), got a good husband and great support from friends and family. I need a kick up the bum. YM, I intend to start day 1 (again ) tomorrow, be my giving up/cutting down buddy?? If anyone else has not got to day 1 yet, maybe think about joining in too?

I intend to log my savings in my sig tomorrow, I spend £5 on beer a day, although I know if I'm not actually buying it I will find it difficult to save that money as I actually go miles to find the beer money :rotfl: I will have a total that I've actually saved, i.e. put in a non-beer secure box and a total that I would've of saved if I didn't have to rob peter to pay paul and buy beer total. If that makes sense? This is afterall a DFW board and we need to think about the money, otherwise this thread will end up getting moved, although I dunno where cos there's already a great alcohol support thread on the health/beauty board!

So good luck for anyone going for day 1 tomorrow, and well done to those that have already notched up days, and well done to those that have cut back and saved some money :D

    xx

    Right you are on Jo

It is time for me to think of others and not just myself. As Joni says in this song http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZgMEPk6fvpg

You dont know what youve got till its gone

You know what YM, I didn't have any idea what that song meant till I just watched it then, I've heard later versions (and sung them :undecided) but had no idea what the lyrics meant. Thanks for posting it :)
