I have noticed recently the amount they drink on Coro too. Always pouring a glass of wine or ordering a beer or sinking a bottle of the hard stuff when life goes wrong. Sends out the wrong message really.
Haven't been here for a while because I went on holiday to Cyprus and haven't been able to stop drinking since! Only a few every night but those couple of glasses are enough to make me tired and sluggish and I then question why I do it. It was also my birthday on Monday and so I have been having a celebratory drink because of this all week.
Its Paul O'Grady's fault though. Every evening when he comes on I am at the point where the tea is just about ready and I really crave a glass of something whilst I finish up and listen to Paul O'Grady on the Sky gnome in the kitchen! Its so lovely that its hard not to. I must say though its only this first glass thats lovely - the glasses after this one don't really do anything for me. I just drink the next and the next for the sake of it.
I need to stop though. Its the mornings when I really notice it. Feel tired and sometimes a bit sick. Sorry for the moan but need to get it off my chest!0 -
Hi all- well done everyone, welcome back Jo and Shoppy. Bis, I know what you mean about bumping into people, I still get people saying, 'you look so well' as they haven't seen me for a couple of years and I looked dreadful back then- bad skin, dull hair, glassy eyes, slight yellow tinge- not a good look at all. Often people can't single out why you look better- I think its because you have more confidence and feel calm and proud of yourself and that seems to give you a certain glow- rather than looking like a guilty, trapped, worried, anxious, struggling addict.
Hope everyone is OK today- good luck0 -
visible reasons to stay AF
.wrinkles around eys go a lot fainter
. whites in the eyes are actually white
. skiin feels much nicer and smoother
. hardly ever dehydrated - skin looks plumper
. hair and nails are stronger as the body is able to work properly instead of
your liver working overtime eliminating all the carp
. hands stop shaking
. teeth are whiter (if you stop red wine or other coloured drinks!!)
. no bloated tummy
. no little veins around your nose
what else ?

Hi all- I think my reasons are retrospective as I didn't realise until I stopped how much alcohol had screwed me up and looking back its hard when you are 'in it' to rationalise this. Basically, giving up alcohol has given me my life back and I didn't have one a couple of years ago.
On the libido front (oh yes it all comes down to this in the end doesn't it?) I remember a boyfriend saying to me, after I said drunkenly shall we go to bed, 'sorry darling, call me old fashioned, but I like my women conscious'- ouch!!!!
Hope everyone is OK- onwards and upwards, and all that and everything....0 -
guilty (for what you've done), trapped (in what you are), worried (of what you may become), anxious (to safeguard the next bottle) , struggling (to find the way out and escape)addict.
Hope everyone is OK today- good luck
