I'm not lurking...just spending time away from the computer..rumour has it that it's good for your health......

just a little reminder to self...there are many moments in a day when I think to myself...."hmmm, that would have been so different if I'd been hungover or out of it" - and it wouldn't have been better for alcohol.

Keep with it folks.....I know some days it's hard but it does become second nature after a while with just the odd passing thought...in the same way that if someone asks how long it's been, I have to stop and think and realise in the scheme of things that it's really not that important. I'm dry today and that is important...and I'm pretty certain I'll be dry tomorrow.

    take care

I have finally got to the stage where I have to think how long it has been now.Hope that is a good sign.

I had 2 Malibu's last night and then felt a bit off (not because of the alcohol) and so, instead of carrying on drinking, I went to bed early. I feel great this morning for a change on a Sunday. I just keep asking myself "why do I want to drink anyway when it makes me feel like s**t????" I don't get it.

don't worry...took me years before the penny dropped - rather loudly! I'd seen enough evidence to last a lifetime and as for having a good time? Not sure about that one! I love being free of the shackles and waking up without the feeling that the world's going to come crashing down around my head.

    Hi all.
Winebox, sorry to hear about the boat, how did you smash it up:eek: ??

You'll have to think of something else nice to do with the rest of your holiday now.

I'm still going, day 18 today, I can hardly believe it myself:T !

I've had a pretty rubbish day today though so feeling a bit (ie very!) down. At the moment it's not turned into a craving so I'm trying to plan things to do for the rest of the night and hope the feeling's gone tomorrow and what's been normal service for a while is resumed.

Just off now to make a nice cuppa, read a bit of my book and then veg in front of BB prior to bath. Hopefully that should do the trick.

Hope you're all OK, see you soon, Ali x.

well it's been a trigger-happy special today...again reinforcing the idea that no amount of fizzy stuff would make things any better.

Apologies for not posting on here as regularly as I used to...I've pretty much emptied the tank of sayings and I didn't want to go repeating myself too much...I'm afraid that being dry is not necessarily exciting and my observations are no longer new - the journey is just something that needs to be done - it's a shame that sometimes it seems more interesting to talk about those times when we were out of it and made fools of ourselves.

No need to apologize.Just post when you feel you can, but remember Bis. there are new people coming onto this thread everyday and maybe they would appreciate your wise words as much as us 'oldies' do.
I myself have my 'wanting to do this' feeling reinforced everyday by reading this thread. It gives so much support and encouragement to alot of people.
And it doesnt really matter if you repeat yourself.
I cant remember every word ever said on here. Can you:D :D
