Hi all
What a lot of fab posts!! Tell you what some of you would not go far wrong as counsellors!!
Well done to almost everyone by the looks of things!
Another AFD under my belt this week, best I have done for a while, I am really pleased with myself, really going to try hard for 6 days this week (BBQ Saturday) OH is being really supportive - I have to say it is a lot of what feels like guilt tripping to me and I do get annoyed when he reminds me of my goals - sympathise with what your OH said to you Jo!
Alisong - seems like you are having an argument with yourself about what to do on holiday (rings a bell with me) good luck with whatever you decide
Have a good weekend everyone :beer:0 -
this is me being a bit boastfull i know ...but i just have to say my husband has been sober now for nearly two weeks this is something i never thought he would be able to do ...he knows about this thread and i have a sneaky suspicion he lurks (although he wont admit it) so i really just wanted to say thanks for all your help you are all making a difference0

Afternoon everyone.
Well done Jo and Shoppy.Keep up the good work.
Alisong, regarding your holiday ....its your choice, but I will remind you about what happened to me earlier on in this thread.
I gave up alcohol for quite a few weeks and then went on holiday to Blackpool thinking I would be ok....Just have a few whilst away, but I would know when to stop.
What a joke.Because I hadnt drunk for a while I was soon drunk.Woke up most days with a hangover.Fell out with DH nearly every night and very nearly wrecked my 25th wedding anniversary due to being hungover.
I havn't had a drink since the day I got back and know that next time I go on holiday I WONT DRINK.
I felt I had really let myself down after being so good.It wasnt worth it.
Lecture over:D At the end of the day it really is your choice.
Good luck

Hi all, hope the day's being good to you.
Day 16 for me today, crikey:T .
Thanks for the tips about the holiday. Shoppy you're right, there's a big old argument going on between my rational, sober voice and that horrible little one that sits on your shoulder waiting to get you in a weak moment:mad: . I've sorted out that I don't want to drink (well most of the time I can see that's the way) but I'm not sure I'm going to be strong enough and that's what's worrying me. Plus, here I can control what's happening a bit and put all my barriers in the way whereas when I'm away I know there'll be encouragement to drink etc:eek:  .
Anyway, that's enough of that. I'm going to do some more thinking to try and find a way through, any bright ideas gratefully received:o .
It's quite a nice day here, sun in between cloud so at least a bit nicer than all that rain. Also, it's Friday:T . Anyone doing anything interesting over the weekend?
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day, well done to loads of you now and jump back on to those who've toppled off the old rickety cart.
See you later, Ali x.£2 savers club no.107 :j £36 so far.0 -
